3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 WheatKing (703) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, - APR 26, 2012The body’s good enough and the coffee meshes well with the porter so I’m happy with it. Not jumping around but a little grin. That’s all I could ask for I suppose. The head was quite beautiful. Coffee was mostly in the smell and slightly in the aftertaste, didn’t carry a punch, but I guess that’s not what they were going for. Very good for a new brewery, looking forward to the future.

Old North Mocha Porter, poured like a true gentleman, quiet and reserved, subtle and refined. Lovely mouth feel with a very satisfying nose of coffee and chocolate. Ample carbonation and slight bite that made this beer a one of my favorites for this year. Sad that I will have to wait until next year to get my hands on some

Billed as Lake of the Bays Old North Mocha Porter but assuming its under this. Pours nice brown with a ruby tinge, somewhat light, creamy biege head. Coffee grinds, lots of roasted malts, bittersweet and some milk chocolate. Mild body and moderate carbonation, slightly sweet and builds to, in my opinion, too much sweetness with more vanilla and chocolate along with a very strong roasted malt. Does not live up to the initial promise.

On tap at Imbibe. Slightly clear (light passes through it), with a big creamy head. Aroma of creamy coffee, with slight metallic hints. Taste is relatively smooth, roasty, with a clean watery finish. A distinct lack of chocolate taste, for something calling itself "mocha". Body is too thin.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 VT (796) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 1, 2012
Cask at Vankleek Hill’s/Beau’s Oktoberfest. Almost opaque, pitch black. Taste is chocolate, sweet cream and vanilla. Some black coffee bitterness in the finish. Light bodied. Somewhat heavily carbonated, for a cask conditioned porter...regardless, pretty decent.
