2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pour at the cottage off of Lake of Bays comes on yet another cloudy day. My goal tomorrow is to hit that cool little pizza place in Dorest & grab one of their fire tower pizzas & a can of crisp pilsner & have us a picnic. Wait, why am I writing about this in my beer rating? Cuz there’s nothing much going on here. Pours meh into the glass. It’s sweet & malty, with a suggestion of powdery chocolate. No worries, as I’m only going to drink 1/3 of this can before I stick it up the ass of a chicken & throw it onto the BBQ with another, more tasty brew in hand.

Pours a dark amber brown with an off white head. Toffee, brown toast and dark fruit aroma. Light body, medium carbonation. Light rum, caramel cake, some lemon, light metal on the finish... Not great.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
473ml can. Pours clear, and the colour of raspberry juice, with a pale beige head. Aroma is malt heavy, with a light fruity note, cocoa, and light straw. As for taste, cocoa, dusty straw, and light acidity up front with some hard water/mineral notes, and light coffee in the mildly bitter finish. It’s not bad at all, but maybe a little more "brown ale" or "porter" in flavour profile then a "red".

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Well, I ain’t even gonna be shy about it, I loved this beer. It has a pretty shitty rating but I loved it. I am still curious as to why ’Red Ale" is not a style and must be classified as an Amber when it clearly stands apart. Firstly, this brew is a pretty redhead, a rusted gold with a long lasting head. A wonderful bouquet of burnt toffee, barnyard, fresh bread and buckwheat honey awaits the nose. It is quite sweet and very malty, exactly how I like my reds unless they claim to be Red IPAs or some such hoppy style. Not too bubbly and smoothness like silk make it a pleasure to drink. I’d raise this pint any day.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
I never would of thought this would score so low. Probably only the best Amber I have tasted and one of the better beers. Poured a beautiful rusted gold colour, I got lost just looking into my glass. Aroma was of toffee, leather, barn, and smoke. It tasted of honey, caramel, and toasty malts. Had a medium smooth body with low carbonation. It finished with a smooth honey after taste, that left me wanting more. A very great beer that stands out above other ambers.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
There is a crap load of metaphor wiggle room for a beer named Spark House (apparently another name for a forest fire lookout tower). it sends the imagination ablaze. Smoked malt? Piney hops? Juniper berries? Woody oak cask? But LB’s beer sputters and fails. Pours a bark brown, big round bubbles that result in, well, not much. The head burns off after than a morning mist on Lake Ontario before settling into ...nothing. Nose of molasses and malts, and something... rye? The taste is roasted malt, but not impressive. The aftertaste has a little ash, ciggy ash, and a mild hop bitterness. I got burned when I bought this one.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Canned sample. Reddish brown in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are a blend of toffee, orchard fruit , and vanilla. Starts of a bit sticky in he mouth, with the caramel malts and apricot jam notes dominating. Manages to dry out on the back end with an over-steeped black tea like astringency. Medium bodied. A bit lacklustre overall.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This amber ale poured a deep red colour with next to no head. Scents include raspberries, malt, fruit juice and honey. First sip was slightly watery in consistency but had pretty good flavour. Flavours of hops, malt, leather and bread. Finish has medium hop flavour with cereal and toast on the side. Palate is mildly bitter with malty flavours.
