Lake Of Bay’s:Spark House Red Ale 5%
Read and carbinaded with some head. Smell is like cherry and chocolate. Taste is the same with some barley and a little hop tingle but the taste show up better and more as I drink it. Nice offering.cheers

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at the brewery. Ruby and pale amber with a frothy and creamy head. Nutty, malts, grains, doughy, moderate carbonation, butterscotch, mild body, becomes somewhat dry, sweetish.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
August 27, 2011 - on draught at The 2011 Golden Tap Awards @ BeerBistro. Why do I bother? Fairly deep ruby-amber with a fast-diminishing frothy off-white head. Smells like sugary paper with weeds and a little medicinal fruit flavouring. Taste is the same, just not as sweet, more harsh floral bitterness. Still and watery body and mouthfeel, unpleasant aftertaste and essentially no carbonation - not good.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours very clear and clearly red from bottle. Aroma is good with some yeasty bready notes. Taste was a bit lacking and thin in character - almost seemed a touch watery.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle) clear dark amber with small light brown head; aromas of stewed fruit, bit of citrus, bit of roast; balanced flavour with long light bitter finish; resembles more a light stout than an amber ale

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark clear red pour, lots of clingy white head. Grassy hope nose. Starts off wet but goes dry quickly. Nice mix of tastes. A bit of malts, lots of raisin. Low carbonation. Very easy to drink. Something sweet in the finish. Clove.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle courtesy of Dany I believe, probably in payment for smuggling lizards into Canada for him. You have to tape those little guys in places no one wants to think about. Pours a deep browned ruby with a thin beige tan head. Sweet malt and a touch of chocolate on the nose. Medium bodied, chocolaty, sweet malt and cocoa. Easy drinking, soft malt, leading into a gentle bitterness on the finish. Good stuff.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep ruddy amber pour. The nose is lightly caramelly with a touch of woody/earthy hoppiness. Moderately hopped with a touch of caramel sweetness. Pretty well-balanced actually. Decent session brew.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
341 ml bottle. Pours brownish red in colour, moderate off white head. Nothing special here, a decent ale. Prob on the malty side of the balance beam. Not bad.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nothing really special about this one. A nice balance but pretty plain. So by nice balance I’m not talking about two pianos on opposite ends of a see-saw perfectly cancelling out each others’ weight, more like a young giraffe walking. Toward the brown side of the amber scale.
