This amber ale poured a deep red colour with next to no head. Scents include raspberries, malt, fruit juice and honey. First sip was slightly watery in consistency but had pretty good flavour. Flavours of hops, malt, leather and bread. Finish has medium hop flavour with cereal and toast on the side. Palate is mildly bitter with malty flavours.

Deep cloudy brownish/dark amber color with a copper hue, and powerful activity. Thick slightly creamy beige 1 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with strong sexy legs. Flavors of cookies, butterscotch, dark malts, burnt honey, chocolate, lemon, sharp grassy hops, herbal and floral spices. Balanced sweetness and sharpness. Malty, grassy, and a little woody. Slick creamy full body with a perfect zesty amount of carbonation. Medium strength finish, ending with a bitter grassy herbal feel with sweet smoky honey and a lingering roasted malt feel. Overall very good quality craft. Excellent flavors with great freshness. Well balanced and intensified. Highly drinkable and pleasant. Good quality ingredients. Excellent red ale.

50 cl can. Pours a clear reddy brown with a lasting tan head. Aroma of sour cherries and chocolate. Taste is slightly sweet with a smooth palate. Overall a good beer that I will look for again.

473ml bottle at Matt’s. Pours a clear amber with a tan head. Aroma and taste are corn with some smokey notes. Crap.

Pours a dark ruby colour with an off-white head. Aroma is of corn and caramel. The flavour is harsh and off. This isn’t nice.

Tasting at Matt’s, can
Amber color, poor head. Grain aroma, not good. But this beer achieves phenomenal results with the flavor, grains bag, caramel, a bit sour, skunky.
Seriously bad.

Dark brown-red colour. Not much head. Nothing but thin grains on the aroma. The taste is sort of this innocuous bland vaguely malty nonsense. Even by the standards of generic red ale, this is a waste of time.

500mL can, pours a dark red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out sweet cereal malts, bready notes and a touch of sweet caramel. Flavour is quite nasty, with sickly sweet medicinal notes, vegetal notes, and bready malt. This is really terrible. What the fuck were they thinking? Disgusting.

Can from Loblaws. Clear amber body with a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of brown sugar and stewed tea. Flavour of metal, caramel and wood. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Nice balance and drinkability.

Appearance: clear red-tinged deep amber with one fat finger of fine ivory head, good retention and patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: caramel malt, grassy and earthy hops, wood and light smoke. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, medium duration mildly bitter and lightly smoky finish. (3/5) Sorry, but I find it really hard to get excited about yet another middle-of-the road amber, distinguished only by the roasty malt tones coming through as slight smoke. Fair enough, that slight smokiness adds some depth, but it’s hard to call it “complexity” (and I’m not entirely sure it’s deliberate). A reasonably well-executed but ultimately boring beer. (12/20)
