3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at The Winking Judge. Considering my previous experiences with Lake of Baysí beers, I was not expecting all that much from this. I was proved wrong. This is only my second maple beer (the first of which I canít remember, other than it was awful swill with the sort of fake sweetness you get from a poor blended scotch) and all of my pre-conceptions were laid to waste. Well a wonderfully balanced and flavourful Belgian blond ale. The Maple is not just a minor addition to the typical Belgian blond flavours, it is very much mixed in there with them, giving it a unique and wonderful complexity that I wasnít expecting. The aroma was also quite pleasant, with the mixing of yeast, citrus hops, and, of course, maple. Palate was somewhat thinner than the hazy golden orange appearance suggested. Overall a very nice beer worth looking for again.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
750ml bottle, golden color, with a small white head, with a smelly pop corn, faint sulfuric corny, awful wet wheay, pale, toasted malt, burnt maple syrup nose, with a faint vanilla, buttery, french toast accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, burnt metallic, harsh maple syrup, spicy vanilla, wet wheat, toasted, pale, smoky malt, nutty, milkyish sourness character, leading towards sweet corny, burnt maple syrup, wheaty maltiness finish. Something went wrong with this beer!

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy, darker yellow colour. The aroma is a bad mix of esters and smoked maple. Not pleasing. It almost has this milk and sugar aroma that is not nice. On the palate it is much better. there is a certain bitterness in this medium bodied brew that makes it more drying than i expected from the aroma. Overall however, not gonna be buying this one again.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sweet pineapple and maple aroma with some faint caramel and a slight, lagery sulfur note. Clear gold under a white ring. Sweet maple flavour with some peppery phenolics and then some tangerine. Ethanol sweetness in counterpoint to tropical fruit accents are not balanced by the very low bitterness. Candy notes together with more maple as the beer warms. Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweet finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2013 I didnít think it was that bad. I enjoyed it enough only down side is that it was over priced in Ontario available at LCBO. Muskoka Oddity Belgian style beer was on shelves at LCBO at the same time for about the same price, it is more worth your money.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Wow, thereís a lot of different sweet flavors and aromas in this, not just maple. Tons of vanilla, some nuttiness, even some citrus. Monica and Brandon brought this one back from Canada in 2013.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A hazed golden amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, mix of sweet maple syrup and Belgian herbs, powdery. In mouth, sweet cloying maple with fruit and apple sauce, some nuttyness, a bit unbalanced. BB June 15 2013 (so 1 day past BBD). 750 ml bottle from LCBO.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle - Orange, maple and some fruit. Very odd and sweet nose that I have trouble placing. Clear gold foamy head that recedes quickly. Sweet and candy like with a tiny bit of sour/bitterness at the end. Not good

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a clear golden colour, with a thin short lived head. The aroma is a strange mix of vanilla, maple, honey, vanilla, hazelnut, wood drawer and cherries, weird. The flavour is on the sweet side, light notes candied citrus, maple, hazelnut, ends sort of empty. Its decent, surprised at some of the really low ratings.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Imbibe. Clear yellow with a sizable white head. Aroma is straight up weird, maple and vanilla with vaguely Belgian-like yeast and pale malt. Doesnít really blend all that well together and things are muddy. Flavour is somewhat better, with the maple really standing out against a Belgian blonde ale background. This is a very sweet-tasting beer but not cloyingly so. Over-all enjoyable but Iím glad I didnít pay for an over-priced LCBO bottle. Itís nice to see this brewery actually attempting something vaguely interesting.
