COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our version of a milk stout, originally named Fresh Powder Milk Stout. A milk stout is simply a stout brewed with an addition of Lactose, a non-fermentable milk sugar, used to create sweetness and a fuller body and mouthfeel in the beer. This is the sweetest stout that we brew, not only because of the addition of lactose, but because of the low hop bitterness, and higher residual sugar content. It is very full bodied beer, often perceived as thick and creamy.

DocLock (6800) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours pretty thick-looking and turbid dark brownish black with minimal tan head. Nose is creamy lactosy black patent and choc malts, cacao, nuts. Tastes patent and chocolate malty, with a dark choc syrup flavor, some nuts, mild blackberry hints, and a smooth finish. Complex and full bodied, this one went well with a maduro cigar.

2013-04-30. Very dark brown black body, fast fading tan head. Mild aroma, light roast and sweet dark malt. Flavour is similar, light roast, sweet dark malt. Mild lingering roast and a bit of lactose malt sweetness in the finish and aftertaste. Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation is just a touch light for the beer. On tap at the brewery

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a fairly large tan head. Roast, cocoa and a touch of sweetness. Medium bodied, smooth with nice small carbonation. Roast and cocoa come through and a nice sweet smoothness from the lactose. A touch of tart roast, cocoa and plum. Tasty and easy drinking.

draft at Coles, black pour more schwarzbier looking than stout. lacking the fuller body and creaminess that it desires. lots of coffee notes, decent flavor, average mouthfeel. OK

ben4321 (3003) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JAN 16, 2013
Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 1/16/13

Aroma: The nose has some roasted malts, some chocolate notes, and some hints of ash as well
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown color with a small light brown head and some light lace
Flavor: The taste is roasty, with a little sweetness, burnt and ashy notes, and a some mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-full, though certainly not as full bodied, thick, and creamy as the description suggested. It also has plus carbonation, which takes away from the expected creaminess
Overall Impression: Overall, I found this one to be decent, but it wasn’t a favorite for me. I don’t have a ton to criticize or a ton to love. It’s fine.
