Not a very good beer in my opinion. Very burnt tasting which is similar to a Johnny walker red. Would not recommend t o others.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Lots of coffee in the nose, along with roasted notes. Not as sweet and thick as I like or expect in a sweet stout. Roasted/toasted notes, milk notes, and thin-ness dominate palate.Plenty of flavor and aroma, just not quite to my liking.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I poured a 12oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. It was bottled on 11/4/13 and cost $2.50 ($0.21 per ounce).
Appearance: Opaque black body with no carbonation visible. Pours to an average sized, dark tan, foamy head which retains and laces fairly well.
Smell: Pretty standard sweet pub-style stout aroma with noticeable sweetness. Light on the roasted malt, though.
Taste: Lake Placid Nippletop Milk Stout is a pretty strangely-named beer. Thatís a bit ironic considering everything about it is pretty much by-the-book otherwise. If you want an example of what a milk stout can be, this is a good one to go to. It seems to be brewed in the traditional style of a standard pub-style stout with the addition of plenty of lactose sugar. Itís quite sweet as that sugar is definitely the spotlight of the palette. A light sweetness with a slight dairy-like character to it throughout most of the swig. Mild roasted malt bitterness on the backend helps balance it out with just a hint of astringency or acidicy (though I find most of the style have this, too). Iíd describe this as a "no frills" milk stout, but that sounds like a detriment, which isnít how it should be taken. It tastes good and itís to spec - good enough for me.
Drinkability: Thereís two reasons to drink this beer: firstly, for its sweet, drinker-friendly taste. Secondly, because of its drinker-friendly drinkability. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth and comfortable. Drinking it down is no challenge whatsoever. My only complaint would be that it finishes almost completely clean (some residual stout aftertaste would be nice). At only 4.9% ABV itís right where it should be in terms of body and robustness. This is the type of beer you can session in the winter.

Not bad. Small head and very dark, could have a couple. But I had had a few when I rated this.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2013-04-30. Very dark brown black body, fast fading tan head. Mild aroma, light roast and sweet dark malt. Flavour is similar, light roast, sweet dark malt. Mild lingering roast and a bit of lactose malt sweetness in the finish and aftertaste. Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation is just a touch light for the beer. On tap at the brewery

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Deep dark black with a small tan head. Not much lacing. Nose is rich milk chocolate, cream, roasted malts, and a little bit of licorice and coffee. Taste is mostly coffee, the other notes are pretty subdued. A bit thin, a bit sweet, sessionable.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
I would not know this was a milk stout if it werenít right there in the name. It was thin, watery, and a bit dry - not the thicker, creamier, sweeter beer I was expecting.
