3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thought I had already rated this. 12 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors. Pours a dark copper color with a medium frothy tan head. Good head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of toffee, citrus and nutty notes. The taste is toffee, earthy notes, chocolate and a bitter almost metallic finish. Medium bodied. Good beer.

Big bready, caramel malt jumps out at the first sip. Toffee and maybe light molasses with burnt wood and some light nut and chocolate character. Maybe some light plum and peat on the finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle courtesy of secret santa. Thanks. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a small beige head that slowly recedes to a fine film. The aroma is modest with roasted barley, dates and a hint of alcohol. The flavor shows some good fruit with cherries, dates and biter walnuts. The palate is smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes short and dry with a bit of grit and some lingering bitterness. Overall: Very nice, very tasty--I’m glad to have had the chance to drink this.

1.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark red to maroon color. Foamy head. Aroma is slightly roasted, dark caramel malts and light sweetness. Perhaps a touch of raisins. Flavor is ugh not good!!!! Dry nutty flavor that is super bitter and dries out the palate big time! Oh disappointing.
