Bottle. Gorgeous hazy dark brown body with reddish glints, low carbonation, and a thick, lasting beige creamy head. Wonderful and complex malty aroma with various hints of hops, plum, chocolate and brown sugar. Nice, sharp, and well balanced hoppy taste that hides the alcohol pretty well. It leaves a good bitter/roasty aftertaste. This is a superb Strong Ale!

Thick but dissipating head. Pours an impenetrable brown black color. Nice beer. Dark chocolate and coffee notes. Good times.

Tastes like a homebrew. Pours dark reddish brown, with no real head. Aroma is sweet mollasses, sugar, barley malt extract. Flavor tastes like alot of my homebrews, which arenít great but good. Somewhat sticky feel in the mouth, interesting.

Deep copper body with a creamy beige head. Aroma of nuts, caramel, cherry, and spice. Flavor is rich, malty, and nutty with notes of cocoa and subtle roast. Finish is well-hopped with substantial stealth bitterness. Tastes likes a big, bitter American brown ale. Decent beer.

Dark red in color and a pleasant taste accentuated by some sweet malts, a bit of nuttiness and fruit. I didnít notice the alcohol content that much. It reminds me of the beers I used to drink in Plattsburgh (ironic?). Its well balanced, has some compexity but offers nothing outrageous.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2006 12 oz. Bottle: Pours a deep, dark brown color, with a long lasting (fades into a whispy ring) off white head, apx. two-three fingers tall. The aroma is of bread, malts, plums, syrup. the tastes are of plums, chocolate, yeast, a touch of alcohol, liccorice, berries, and malts. The mouthfeel is a little tart and brief, yet a lingering taste of chocolate and dates/plums. Good, but not great. Not the most complex beer Iíve had, but definitly pretty tasty.

Murky dark brown. Scent of butterscotch, wood, maple, brown sugar and caramlized plums. Very bright and fresh taste up front, lacking depth but still very enjoyable - flavors of wood, plums, brown sugar and some chewy bready flavors. A beer that could be a brown ale and could be a scotch ale and could be a strong ale - itís an interesting multi-style hybrid that has itís own place. Itís good to find beer like this.

Unclear brown with a tan head. Sweet and sour fruit and malt aroma with citrus, orange and pineapple and a hint of liquorice. Quite sweet flavor of chocolate and a bit of hop. Foamy mouthfeel. Ordinary but frinkable.

A nice hops flavor to this one, a bit of pepper, and enough malt flavor, creates a well balanced brew, I could drink this one everyday! Thanks Secret santa!
