Pours to a very dark brown color and has an extremley hoppy smell. Poured to a medium brownish head and stayed for the entire driniking of the beer. A very smooth taste when first drinking but the aftertatse is of extreme bitterness. It was fairly heavy but very drinkable. I enjoyed it thouroughly.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle pours dark brown, very caramel like in its hues, small white film of a head, fairly attractive lacing, with light carbonation. Slight roasty, light chocolate malt like aroma. A bit of alcohol and maple flavored bacon as well. Some hops, some malts, slightly chalky on zee tongue. Light body, somewhat thin mouthfeel. Finishes with a bland bitterness, slightly malty. This one doesn’t fit the bill as an English Strong Ale. Thanks goes out to jah noth for the trade!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not too bad. A tastey and potent dark beer, similar in style to Shed Mountain Ale and Rock Art Ridge Runner Ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Chocolate malt and mild coffee aroma, auburn, small tan head. Fairly strong malt flavour, full bodied, bitter, lacks balance I think. Fairly nice beer.

Buffalo Brewfest 04. Dark brown pour, hops and malt in aroma. Taste was creamy at first with a decent malt body and noticeable, but hardly overwhelming hops - a sweet taste. Had no idea it was 7%. Good beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2008 Very nice color and head. The aroma shows off the malt that waits. The flavor is very malty with a slighty odd finish that makes it less than perfect.
RERATE: On tap at the Brewpub. Better than I remembered, althought I have had this beer by the case in the past. Perhaps it is benefiting from being fresh and on tap rather than a bottle that has been on a store shelf a little too long. It definitely fits the character of an english strong ale with the malt character on center stage.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2004 A beer that was reportedly sent to the White House at the then President Clinton’s request. All I can says is that is wife was a bitch and his girlfriend a slut and I think that he had better taste in women than he had for beer. Opaque and brown in color. Small off white head. Aroma of beer, malty and slightly sweet. No much of a flavor at all, only bubbles and bitterness. Dry bitter finish. Not one I’d care to repeat.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at VT Brewers Fest - Pours a deep copper/reddish color with an scant light tan head that does not hold up long. Aroma is slightly fruity and malty with some hop. Flavor is of both malt and bitter hops and faint smokines. Although a strong ale, alcohol is not apparent. Finish is bitter, but not long lasting. Overall an OK beer, but not outstanding..
