A tasty English strong. Spicy on the palate the beer was smooth throughout the drink. I can see where people really dig this beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with reddish/amber hues and a small tan head that quickly dissipates. Faint aroma of roasted malt. Medium bodied with good mix of chocolate and roasted malt nuttiness. Underlying hop flavors are also apparent. This one was a nice surprise.

Poured dark amber color with fluffy head. Spiced hop flavor, good beer for cold winter weather. According to the placard at the bar where I sampled Ubu, Bubba Clinton likes this beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours with a five+ finger light tan head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light carbonation. Nose is faintly malty. Medium bodied. Starts and finishes with a balance of malt and hops, the high ABV is not noticable. $1.85 for a 12oz bottle from Hoosick Street Discount Bev. Troy, NY.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 12, 2013 2013-04-30. Crisp red brown body small beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty, lightly caramel. Flavour is pleasantly malty, sweetish, caramel touches, drier malt accents, light bitterness balances and lingers in the finish. Average plus bodied palate, modest carbonation. My favorite of their beers I think, pleasantly malty, modest alcohol presence in the finish. 7/3/7/3/14 On tap at the brewery
2004-12-XX. Dark brown body with a small white film of a head. Aroma is sweetly malty with notes of burnt brown sugar. Flavour is vaguely Belgian with sweet malt and esters. perplexing dry bitterness in the finish is distractingly alcoholic. Pleasant fruity notes throughout, average palate. Interesting. Bottle. 6/3/6/3/12

Pours to a very dark brown color and has an extremley hoppy smell. Poured to a medium brownish head and stayed for the entire driniking of the beer. A very smooth taste when first drinking but the aftertatse is of extreme bitterness. It was fairly heavy but very drinkable. I enjoyed it thouroughly.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle pours dark brown, very caramel like in its hues, small white film of a head, fairly attractive lacing, with light carbonation. Slight roasty, light chocolate malt like aroma. A bit of alcohol and maple flavored bacon as well. Some hops, some malts, slightly chalky on zee tongue. Light body, somewhat thin mouthfeel. Finishes with a bland bitterness, slightly malty. This one doesn’t fit the bill as an English Strong Ale. Thanks goes out to jah noth for the trade!

Not too bad. A tastey and potent dark beer, similar in style to Shed Mountain Ale and Rock Art Ridge Runner Ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Chocolate malt and mild coffee aroma, auburn, small tan head. Fairly strong malt flavour, full bodied, bitter, lacks balance I think. Fairly nice beer.
