3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thick, nutty with malty sweetness; a big burnt sticky hop ending. I'd call it strong nut brown. Doesn't taste like 7%abv. Sit Ubu, sit!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Opaque chocolate brown. Light brown head. Malty, nutty aroma w/ light alcohol. Body is a little on the light side of medium, perhaps over-carbonated. Nutty, caramel flavour w/ some chocolate & roastiness & a decently bitter, lightly alcoholic finish.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark and imposing. Strong malty flavor with some hops in the background. Seemed stronger in the bottle than when I had it on draft. Seems to live up to its billing as a traditional English style ale.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 15, 2004 Pours a nice dark mahogany color with a beige head that stays throughout. Aroma is moderate, with some fruits bleded in there, not sure what it is. The flavor is awesome, with a nice burst that mildly tapers down into an extremely smooth finish that makes you want to keep drinking the beer. This stuff is awesome!
Rerate: some chocolate malts in the nose. Start is somewhat hoppy smoothing down into a great malty finish with some chocolate taste shining through. Hides 7% well. Even better then second time. I highly recommend this stuff to anyone that hasnt had it before. If you want to trade, let me know.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
out of bottle this was a dissappointment. Little malt flavor even when served
at correct temperature. Very thin. Dark red color not matched by depth of flavor.
On tap my recollections of this brew more positive.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark amber colour with a thin white head. The aroma was pretty fragrant and pretty malty. The aftertaste was potent and lasted quite a long time. I sampled the Lake Placid 46'er IPA and hated it, but figured I'd give this a tasting (blind--not from a review), and it turns out I was pretty impressed by Lake Placid this time around. Try this beer and not the 46'er IPA. I tasted this on tap at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from the bottle with a slight tan head which left a thin lacing on the glass. It was dark brown in color with a malty nose. This is a very nice and tasty beer. Most suitable for the cold fall and winter months, as it is a rich, thick and warming beer.
