Our flagship beer, this English Strong Ale is available throughout the Adirondacks and greater Northeast. Deep garnet red in color, Ubu weighs in at 7% alcohol by volume (ABV) but is known for its fantastic taste. It features dark fruit and roasted malt flavors, with a slightly bitter finish. 43 SRM.

Co-Rated with Hopscotch. Not bad at all. Deep reds and brown, fluffy off white head. Nice notes of chocolate, nuts, dough, hints of coffee, and fresh baked pumpernickel. Flavor is not nearly the same as the aroma, but still decent none the less. Hops add a nice balance at the end to the malt. Certainly worth a try.

Co-rated by Scraff... Clear, mahogany ale with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Very well retained with nice, creamy, thick lacing. Chocolatey aroma with notes of cashews, chocolate chip cookie dough and dark breads. The flavor, although well-balanced and well-bittered, is a bit of a let down. Smells better than it tastes. Light to medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter finish. Good brew, overall.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2004 Great aroma. Earthy, nutty some chocolate maybe. Very dark reddish brown. Starts great something seems a little flat in the finish.

Deep ruby brown. Small quickly dissipating head. Bready, toasted malt nose. Nutty, salty malts, faint coffee, way far off chocolate, slight smoke, or burnt grain, light to medium bodied, let this sucker warm up! Finishing with earthen dirty hops, lingering bitterness, very very nice. I love the appearance, the hops, the nose, a great beer for winter.

Pours a mahogany color with minimal head, probably due to bartender error (had on draft). Nutty aroma, some maltiness and a little yeast. Smooth, chocolaty and remnants of roasted hazelnuts. A very very nice brew. Solid finish, no wonder it was a favorite of a former president...

Sit, Ubu, sit - wasn;t that from Mad about you? I digress....Excellent strong ale - elements of Fuggles Hops - reminds me of a strong bitter. Nice, dark tea colored appearance with a mocha colored head. Pleasant chocolately aroma. Thick mouthfeel - gets better as it warms.

Tannic, English-style Fuggles/Golding aroma. Good dark brown beer, colorful label. Tangy, well-brewed beer with some astringency and a lot of character. Roasty. Longish roast finish, coffee tones. Medium bodied.

Aah Lake Placid, home to the greatest American sports moment, which has nothing to do with this beer. Brown ale characteristics in aroma and taste, would not of guessed this at 7%. Substantial body, nice.
