COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship beer, this English Strong Ale has developed an almost cult-like following in the Adirondacks and greater Northeast. Deep garnet red in color, Ubu weighs in at 7% alcohol by volume (ABV) but is known for its fantastic taste. Ubu Ale has received two people’s choice awards at the Saratoga BrewFest and was chosen one of the top 365 beers in the world by the Beer-A-Day calendar.

Bottle. Chocolate & molasses aroma. Dark, black/red body with medium tan head. Flavor begins sweet followed by malts with a subtle roasted/chocolate finish. A very smooth and creamy beer, well balanced.

12oz bottle I received in a beer of the month club. Pours dark brown with tan head. Aromas of caramel, dough, chocolate, and nuts. Flavor of nutty dark malts, caramel, bit of earth, and some chocolate. Finishes dry. Decent english style ale.

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours deep brown with a thick, lacy, beige head. Aroma of floral hops, butterscotch and caramel malts with some dough and nuts in there as well. Flavor about the same. Average texture. A decent beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark red to maroon color. Foamy head. Aroma is slightly roasted, dark caramel malts and light sweetness. Perhaps a touch of raisins. Flavor is ugh not good!!!! Dry nutty flavor that is super bitter and dries out the palate big time! Oh disappointing.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a deep ruby brown color with a thick head of tan foam. The nose is pleasantly nutty with some nice toast and fruit notes. The flavor has a good bitterness up front but then a nice caramel malt, plum, and slight cherry notes. Perhaps a little cracker too. Medium bodied with slightly softer than average carbonation leading to a rather dry, medium finish. This brew is well balanced and certainly sessionable enough for the style. I think I will have to find another.
