Bottle. Wow. Excellent. Pours a dark brown. Modest head. Nice roasted aroma. Complex palate. Nutty, hoppy. Long delicious finish. Highly recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer goes down pretty smooth at 7% ABV. It has a good blend of malt and hops, with a nice finish.

BOTM: This pours surprisingly dark for an ale - a deep rich mahogany. The head is thin and soapy looking with large bubbles. The aroma consists mainly of toffee and malt. This has a surprisingly heavy but smooth body with just a faint touch of carbonation. There is a cerealy aftertaste that is quite pleasant. This is a very good beer for cold nights but not something I would drink on a hot summer day. I WILL be buying this again.

Nice dark brown pour under a thin tan head; medium carbonation, good mellow flavor, sweet but not too sticky. A nice surprise!

The smell instantly shows the alcohol and doesn’t give the impression of the malt and certainly not the bitterness underneath. It’s a good overall effect, but the aroma definitely isn’t a strong point. A bit unbalanced but the hopping saves the day.

i really wasn't as impressed with this as i had been lead to believe i would be. it's an okay beer to enjoy once in a while, probably during a rainy november night, but it's nothing that i'll seek out again. nice clear amber pour with a pretty eggshell head that fades fast. the nose is a bit spicy and floral. fairly well balanced with the hops a bit more prominent. thin, with a slightly bitter finish. perfectly adequate but nothing mind blowing.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2003 A well hopped English Strong ale. It has a delicious, sweet, roasted flavor with a hint of dark chocolate that stays with you to the last drop. Very dark amber in color with a tan head. The ale was drank from a fresh keg purchased directly from the brewery. I reccomend it this way.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2005 Pours dark amber with thin head. Malts and sweetness and just the right amount of fruit taste. Well balanced beer from a fine NY brewery. Sit UBU sit.

BOTM, Dark bottle, dark beer. Thin white patchy head. Malty odor. Smooth malty/chocolaty taste. Enjoyed very much! My favorite BOTM so far.
