UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 [2422-20090802] Tap. Berry malt toast aroma. Clear, dark mahogany red body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Mild roast malt grains flavour has more fruit in the background. Full body is quite boozy. Average, a little too rough and boozy. (6/4/6/3/13) 3.2

[5322B-20130430] Tap. Not much aroma. Clear, mahogany brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Milky toasted grains flavour has a lingering bitterness. Medium-full body. Interesting, a little rough around the edges. (5/3/6/3/13) 3.0

Draught at the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Dark brown with a winey red glow. Big nose of toffee, coffee, chocolate; rich and fragrant, with a big of dried fruits. Chocolate, coffee flavor, bitter and well roasted with rather light body and a big, bitter finish. Very pleasant.

Appearance: clear dark brown brew with plus sized frothy , slightly tanned shade. Good lace. Ubu is quiet handsome … 4+
Nose: crisp , clean and very refreshing. Solid blend of leafy , citric hops with malt. Highly aromatic with hint of grapefruit.8-
Flavor/Palate : Mid bodied. Straightforward brown ale with solid hop feel to balance. Simple yet with good depth. Slight warmth with well rounded finish. Lake Placid brewery offered pleasant surprise for me today. 14+/20

pours amber/brown with a small ring of white fine bubbles around the rim of the glass. Smells breaddy with some decent rose and grapefruit aromas popping through. Taste is on the nutty side like a brown ale with some mild peppery notes. A bit thin on the mouthfeel for an english strong ale, but very drinkable. A bit bland on the finish. This one has potential, but is not as balanced as other English Strongs I’ve had.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Very dark brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel, some toastiness, fruits, chocolaty and nutty notes and a bit of hops and alcohol. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, nuts and fruits. Finishes with bitter and slightly spicy hops and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied with a somewhat thick and rounded feel. Not bad.

Bottle pours dark brown, very caramel like in its hues, small white film of a head, fairly attractive lacing, with light carbonation.   Slight roasty, light chocolate malt like aroma.   A bit of alcohol and maple flavored bacon as well.   Some hops, some malts, slightly chalky on zee tongue.   Light body, somewhat thin mouthfeel.   Finishes with a bland bitterness, slightly malty.   This one doesn’t fit the bill as an English Strong Ale.   Thanks goes out to jah noth for the trade!

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 2 Mar 2010) Dark reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, slightly nutty nose with notes of chocolate and caramel. Malty, nutty taste with chocolate, dark bread, toasted grain and a gentle, spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. Well balanced and nice beer with alcohol well hidden.
