4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I got tipped to this beer while visiting my local liquor locker, and great tip it was, too. beautiful, deep garnet color, wonderful nose and very nice mouthfeel combine to make this a worthy addition to your stash.
Malty and rich-tasting, it could easily serve as a session beer, but enjoyed it with my dinner of meat loaf and
potatoes smothered with brown gravy and onions. First LP beer Iíve tried--at least as far as I can remember--and itís a winner in my book.

Bought this in bottle while at grocery store feeling too lazy to go to beer store. Place had several of my old dependables in 12-packs, but only wanted six. This beer was so not me. Malty in the extreme, skunky on the palate. I forced myself through one and will give the rest away. I think my dislike of this is largely a function of my preference for high-hopped pales and IPAs. This was like a chocolate malt with beer poured in it. Might be good to you, but not to me.

A great blend of flavors. I would drink this with my dinner before a night out with the boys.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2007 This dark ale has a malty character with very little hops apparent. Little to no head but somewhat sweet and vinuous. Hints of chocolate and wildberries or possibly cherry flavors. Very unique in taste and flavor.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle from fall 2009. Aroma chocolate like, malty. Taste malty and hints of chocolate. This might have aged a bit, the alcohol seems slightly stronger than I remember. After taste slightly hoppy. Pretty good beer from a small brewery.

Really impressed with this malty English Ale. Nice amber color with a full, malty aroma. The hops give it a nice presence in the mouth, but this beer isnít all about the hops. The quality malts are what really deliver this beer. They blend so well with the alcohol that you really donít notice itís a 7%er. I canít recommend this enough.

12 oz bottle from 6 pack purchased at Price Chopper in Canton, NY. Pours a very dark amber just barley translucent when help up to light. Thin temporary head. Subtle aroma. Taste is nutty malt up front crispier bitter hoppy finish. Not usually a big fan of English-style ales but this is spectacular!

Minimal head that faded quickly. Poured from bottle. Roasted and peaty nose with a slight sweetness. Medium body nose translates straight to the taste

I simply canít get enough of this beer since it could be found here in Vermont. It packs a punch but they keep going down. Nice mix of sweet maltiness and fine blend of hops which leads to the ability to drink to many of them.
