Respectable. Small head, very dark. Hint of molasses and chocolate. Fullness in the mouthfeel. Very little hop flavor in this bottle at least. Not a lot of depth of flavor, but what’s there is executed pretty well. Smooth and drinkable.

Bottle, from Jon. Aroma of caramel malt, hops, baking soda. Initial flavor is malty sweet and woody, with caramel, brown sugar, and a touch of dark fruit. Finish is dry and a bit astringent, with stealthy bittering flavors creeping in. Maybe it was just me, but I could have sworn a slight metallic flavor lingering in the finish as well. Certainly not the rich finish I desired based on the initial (tasty) flavors. The mouthfeel of this brew is average, leaning a bit thin. So-so overall, but a nice story of a Labrador adds some character to this beer.

Tap at Barcade? I think. (I’m backlogged at the moment) Very deep brown with crimson in the light. The thin tan head stays around. Toasted malt aroma- a touch earthy with some tobacco and thin cocoa notes. Rounded carbonation- could be less fizzy. Dark toasted flavor. Malt forward with some husky bitterness and tobacco notes. Mildly hopped with residual toasted biscuity malt notes. Underwhelming.

Dark brown color. Light aroma. Medium body structure, with some chocolate flavor and dark caramel; medium-low bitterness. Easy.

A nice example of the style, deep red with toffee and hop scent, with caramel and a bit of coffee in the taste and aftertaste.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown color with an off white head and light lacing. The aroma was dominated by lightly roasted malts and bready yeast with hints of roasted coffee. Mostly a caramel malt flavor with a noticable grainess and a mild underlying of dark fruit. Finishes dry, with a weak hop flavor and bitterness.

Bottle. Wow. Excellent. Pours a dark brown. Modest head. Nice roasted aroma. Complex palate. Nutty, hoppy. Long delicious finish. Highly recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The smell instantly shows the alcohol and doesn’t give the impression of the malt and certainly not the bitterness underneath. It’s a good overall effect, but the aroma definitely isn’t a strong point. A bit unbalanced but the hopping saves the day.
