COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship beer, this English Strong Ale has developed an almost cult-like following in the Adirondacks and greater Northeast. Deep garnet red in color, Ubu weighs in at 7% alcohol by volume (ABV) but is known for its fantastic taste. Ubu Ale has received two people’s choice awards at the Saratoga BrewFest and was chosen one of the top 365 beers in the world by the Beer-A-Day calendar.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2007 This dark ale has a malty character with very little hops apparent. Little to no head but somewhat sweet and vinuous. Hints of chocolate and wildberries or possibly cherry flavors. Very unique in taste and flavor.

BOTM: This pours surprisingly dark for an ale - a deep rich mahogany. The head is thin and soapy looking with large bubbles. The aroma consists mainly of toffee and malt. This has a surprisingly heavy but smooth body with just a faint touch of carbonation. There is a cerealy aftertaste that is quite pleasant. This is a very good beer for cold nights but not something I would drink on a hot summer day. I WILL be buying this again.

12oz bottle from beer club. Pours deep red with medium-sized tan head. Aroma is caramel malts and a bit of toffee. Powerful malty flavor with just a touch of bitterness to balance in the finish. I enjoyed this.

Beautiful dark brown color. Head is thin but frothy. Not a lot on the nose, but mouthfilling flavor of roasted malts. Traditional caramel and coffee notes with a plush palate. Finishes with mouth watering bitternesss. Terrific balance...a standout for sure among a pretty average crop of beers I have tried in NY so far (brooklyn and ommegang notwithstand

poured a deep brownish-amber color with a tan head. Aroma was a mix of oak, coffee, malts, and alcohol. Flavour was mainly hops with a sweetness to it. The alocohol was present.

Murky dark brown. Scent of butterscotch, wood, maple, brown sugar and caramlized plums. Very bright and fresh taste up front, lacking depth but still very enjoyable - flavors of wood, plums, brown sugar and some chewy bready flavors. A beer that could be a brown ale and could be a scotch ale and could be a strong ale - it’s an interesting multi-style hybrid that has it’s own place. It’s good to find beer like this.

Bottle. Gorgeous hazy dark brown body with reddish glints, low carbonation, and a thick, lasting beige creamy head. Wonderful and complex malty aroma with various hints of hops, plum, chocolate and brown sugar. Nice, sharp, and well balanced hoppy taste that hides the alcohol pretty well. It leaves a good bitter/roasty aftertaste. This is a superb Strong Ale!
