Pours very dark and imposing. Strong malty flavor with some hops in the background. Seemed stronger in the bottle than when I had it on draft. Seems to live up to its billing as a traditional English style ale.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light messy lacing sticking to the glass. The smell started off with rich sweet milk chocolate and a lingering bitter dark chocolate to balance. Light dark fruits mesh in and around the chocolate flavors. The taste was moderately sweet combining the chocolate with the dark fruits nicely. A light lingering sweet fruity to chocolate aftertaste leads into a sticky sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed pretty subdued yet still good and lead to a semi-smooth almost creamy feel. Overall, tastes and smells great on a cool Summer’s evening, not a crushable beer but looking at it for what it is and wants to be it works. I’d have again.

A great blend of flavors. I would drink this with my dinner before a night out with the boys.

I’m not a huge English Strong Ale guy, but this beer is fantastic. Smells amazing, looks amazing, and the taste is even better.

Pours a near black ruby red with a foamy head. Aroma of plum cherries and alcohol. Taste is dark and malty up front with a smokey bitterness in the finish notes of dark fruit come through. The mouthfeel reveals alcohol and a higher level of carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
