3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tawny brown color, with reddish tinges, adorned with a large, thick, creamy, beige head. Aroma is a delight, roasty, fruity, sweet and candyish, with a touch of caramel. Bold match of dark fruit and cognac-y alcoholic feel. Dazzling appearance on the palate, hoppy, rich, rugged, with an indefatigable flavor, that slowly quits the palate. Damned tasty. Very nice barleywine, not a mind-blower, but it does the trick well enough.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours dark brown with an attractive beige head and a smoky oaky molasses aroma. There is a very woody brown sugar flavor with a dry chocolate finish and a mild alcohol trail.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Guerde - thanks man! Pours very dark brown/amber with a creamy off-beige head. Aroma seems woody. And smoky. Full bodied, almost. Flavor is woody, smoky, lightly brown sugar. It’s near dry. It finishes smoky and a bit bitter. A little chocolate after a long time.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours dark and smooth into snifter with perfect amount of head. Main aroma is scent of dark chocolate with faint dark berry. Tastes creamy to the mouth, smooth immediate aftertaste, with delayed mild notes of chocolate and coffee. Great beer stand alone and great with a burger or hearty winter meal.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with pillowy head that lasts forever with great lacing. Sweet, dark fruity aroma, with some caramel and bourbon. Taste is equally sweet with more caramel, toffee, and a little roasted taste with slight booze at the end. Palate is thick, smooth, creamy. Alcohol is very well hidden. Almost dangerously drinkable, as it is subtle and not overly complex.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Santa. Dark mahogany pour with a small tight beige head. Aroma was full of dark fruits, toffee, caramel and a light touch of smoke. No booze. Well done. Flavors were rich from top to bottom. Toffee, caramel, earthy sweetness, slight roast. The smoke lingers just a bit. Mouthfeel was velvety smooth with light carbonation. Rich and soft. One of the best barley wines Ive had in quite some time. Awesome in its simplicity and execution.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Inreedibly subtle for a winter barley wine. Dark, not overly sweet, and smooth. Not terribly complex with very little carbonation. Sessionable almost to a flaw. A sixer of this will put you under the table.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It poured a dark brown/almost black color with a white head. The aroma was some maltiness and caramel. The taste was more caramel, malt, wood, whiskey and nuts. This is a very well hidden Barley Wine, one to enjoy again and again.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hand written twist-off bottle 2008 vintage.
It pours a dark brown with a big, creamy tan head. Nice lacing.
The smell is dark and fruity. It is really nice. It is one of the better smelling BWs out there.
The flavor is pretty good. A classic barleywine. Not overly alcoholic, just smooth and malty with some fruits, light hops and a lot of malt.
