pj1855 (76), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2008 Small off white head. Clear redish brown color. Very little aroma. Soft carbination. Good lacing. Kind of watery with a bit of coffee flavor in the end. tedovertu (133), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2008 Redish brown color. Very little aroma. Extremely watery for a brown ale. Some very week malty nut flavor. Even the carbonation was lacking. Currently with 25 rating the average is 3.13 this is entirely too high. This is not a good brown. Try a Surly bender if you want a decent Minnesota brown ale it is much better. Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Sep 21, 2007 I don’t understand the last reviewer. I poured this (albeit a little cold) and it had an INSANELY large head--as though I’d been shaking the bottle for several minutes. Anyway, the was a HUGE frothy head with a nice dark brown and cloudy color. Aroma was a faint but pleasant malt--nuts, fresh rain, and caramel. Mediocre flavor for a brown ale. Malty toasted nut flavor that was mild. The finish was shockingly dry--to the point I’d say it was bad. The beer was also rather bitter for a brown ale. As far as brown ales go, I don’t want to have to drink this again. MIBRomeo (1889), Wisconsin, USA Aug 6, 2007 thanks to jason (Ughsmash) for sharing. Barely there aroma toated malts over a light brown pour w/ no head. Watery thin. Flavor almsot like a scotch ale, heavy grains some toasty malts, pretty avg at best. 1FastSTi (2402), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Aug 3, 2007 Bottle via Jason. The beer pours to an amber body with a thin white head. The aroma is cookie laden toasted shortbread and light hops. The flavor is your typical toasted brown malts with only a slight nuttiness. The palate is moderately bodied with a light acetic quality. Nice texture with a slight dryness.
