12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained light beige head, over a claear, dark brown (SRM 35) body....nose is primarily chocolate, cocoa, hints of toffee/caramel......taste is chocolate, cocoa, light toffee/caramel, finishing slightly sweet with hints of bitterness....mouth feel medium, slightly creamy, carbonation adds light spritz. The bottleís label indicates this is an Oatmeal Stout. It has a very light mouth feel for an Oatmeal Stout and it is not as creamy as it should be. If this is a Sweet Stout it should have a slightly higher sense of sweetness. Either way this is a pleasant enough beverage and is quite drinkable. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 Pours very dark with big brown head that lasts and great lacing. Aroma is complex with roasted malts, a little chocolate and smoke, and some sweet lactose. Taste follows suit with a moderate amount of roasted malts and a tiny bit of coffee. Really drinkable and a good aftertaste. Palate is pretty smooth but just a little thin in the end. Overall a very good beer.

Aroma is really sweet and a little medicinal, but still pleasant. Taste is roasted oats and malt. Palate is average, but everything comes together nicely to make a decent stout. 8+3+6+3+14=3.4

Pours a dark black with a brown head and aroma of roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Taste is very sweet, of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee with a medium, toasty finish. A nice sweet stout with good flavor.

Pours a black as a moonless night, with a small head. Smells sweet witha chocolate toasty malty nose. Taste is sweet with chocolate and coffee notes. Very drinkable, without any bitterness. Carbonation is soft and the finishes like a Hershey kiss. Quaff Score 8 / 10 Nice sweet stout !

12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black, deep beige head. Sort of odd chocolate centered aroma, some oats and a hint of sour pungency. Kind of sharp, Iíd guess a little infected. Other than that, pretty tolerable. Medium bodied, roasty bakers chocolate. Not a really impressive example of the style, I certainly wonít seek this or any other Lake Superior beer out again.

Has some faint chocolate taste as well as scent. Also getting some kind of fruit taste, rather light, but really drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Its ok, not really anything special. No complexity, no layers. But still pretty tasty overall.

This looks the part, deep and dark with a tan head that laces nicely. Nose is too damn subtle, but whatís there is good, grains, metallic, like a brown ale really, whereís the oatmeal? Taste: again, subtle... you have to do a bit of thinking to gather anything worth noting... itís like a dark, oat-dashed New Castle, not very impressive. The feel is decent, milky and an appropriate level of carbonation, donít expect anything spectacular but it works. Overall, average, thatís about it.

This didnít really work for me at all. A really nice chocolately nose, but the flavor was sour with an overly carbonated body--almost like a bad bottle, I donít know.

Probably not the first time I have drank this beer. I spent one year in Superior/Duluth. Very good, glad to have it again.
