UPDATED: APR 21, 2013 12 oz bottle. Thick and black with a brown head and rings of lacing. Big roasted malt aroma with notes of sweet chocolate. Pretty full body with a creamy smooth feel. Light vanilla and dark fruits behind roasted malty chocolate flavors. A little too sweet, but hides the alcohol. Pretty good overall, worth trying.

Pours dark with some translucent at the edges. No head or lacing, lightly carbonated. Nose is cocoa and some dark roast malts. Flavor follows with a sweet mid with vanilla but then nice mildly bitter finish. Cherries show up in the nose as some earthy funkiness, and in the flavor on the finish as rustic dark dried fruit flavors, but more pronounced when warm. Enjoyable and complex enough to seek out.

(Bottle). Aroma is alcohol and malt. Flavors of roasted malt, cherry and cocoa. Very smooth palate. Alcohol very well concealed. Looking forward to the second release in the series. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Big beer. Poured at a good temperature with a light brown, thick, foamy head that settle to an island and ring and a little lace. Aroma is malt, roast, molasses, old leather. Color is an opaque black brown. Flavor’s like nose with more going on. Cocoa really comes out and sits on the fence between bitter and bittersweet. Also is a little soy, licorice, and medicine. Body is good; ditto carbonation. Finish is very long, a little boozy, and memorable.

This is awesome, definitely like a vanilla/cherry/cocoa dessert but not too sweet.

Sample pour of deep dark murky with a full red head. Nose is full coffee with moderate bitterness and some milkiness. Flavor is fairly bitter but opens nicely with some time. Good coffee notes and mild booze. Drinkable and enjoyable.
