Bottle. Murky reddish amber pour with a smaller ring head. Nice aroma of rich malt, touch of wood, dark fruit. Good hop bite. A bit boozy but I kinda like that.

12oz bottle from Manahawkin Spirits. Poured a thick slightly murky reddish deep brown with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma is cardboard, raisins, dates, seltzer, nut shells and some dry mollasses. Body is slightly srupy, no heat, average carbonation. Flavor is far more sweet than the aroma super cloying, dificult to drink, molasses, caramel, nut shell and biscuit on the end with raisin bread dough. Blah the flavor comes off too big and not in a good way.

Thin, white dissipated head atop a deep brown body. Nose of roasty malt, somewhat Melanoidin red malt. Very brown, ripe fig flavour - slight alcohol. Sweet, raisin and mildly boozy. Tasty but thin through the finish.

Bottle:   Deep red, soft to moderate foamy off-white head, little lacing.   Big sweet malty nose, heavy biscuit and toffee.   Very sweet on the tongue, malty, biscuity, some caramel and toffee.   Thankfully not cloying.   Feels a little green but thankfull not caustic.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finish does reveal a bit of alcohol and a bit over the top malty sweetness.   Not a hopped up example, not a malty one either, seems to be middle of the road albeit a little alcoholic and overly sweet.

bottle @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Clear brown amber with a thin rim head, tiny dots of lace. Taste is sweet toffee malt in a chewy, full-bodied brew. It stays full through a lingering finish that never really offers hops or carbonation. Alcohol is well-hidden and dangerous. A reasonably good Barley Wine.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy deep red color with small beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Somewhat boozy flavor- bit of resinous hoppiness in the finish that lingers on the palate. Medium-to-full bodied. Average among barleywines but tasty nonetheless.
