Pure Milwaukee Genius Series 1: Made with three styles of fresh American hops and fruity ale yeast that requires greater fermentation, it finishes with a dark amber appearance, spicy hop flavor and bold, malty backbone. The punch this potent brew packs reminds us all that when you want to make a point, you’re better off making a statement.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Aroma: surprisingly hoppy: More like an APA than an "amber ale". A solid mix of malts is also present. Flavor: about as hoppy as a typical APA, but with a robust medium- and dark-roasted malt base. Well-balanced and mildly spicy (hops). Feel: light heat from the higher ABV but relatively smooth and soft. Medium+ body. O: a well-crafted and tasty BPA (Brown Pale Ale).

Don't burn bridges I always say but this is worth a try. Malty sweet aroma from a beautiful red pour. The flavor is malty amber like with a nice hop bite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique June 2013. You can really feel the alcohol in this one. Swirling layer of foam over a copper looking beer.

bottle @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Clear amber brown color, frothy tan head that stays, mottled curtain of lace. Taste malt and more malt. It cruises without incident through the palate to slight bittering and hidden alcohol that becomes more obvious as the drink is consumed. The finish warms as it extends through the finish. A good big ale, but not enough complexity to make it great.

Poured from bottle into regular straight sided glass. Dark amber, almost brown color with cream head that sticks around. Nose is sweet maltiness. Tougue is all malt with just a hint of booziness in the finish. Nice, smoothe mouth feel. Pretty solid beer from a cool local friendly brewer.

Not bad. Dark Reddish brown. Aroma was oddly absent...some malts. Toffee and some cocoa big in the taste, hop bitterness at the end. Overall tasty.

Pours a deep mahogany red/brown with a tan head and good lacing. Aroma is malty with a touch of raisin and berry. Taste is sweet and malty with a slightly bitter finish that offsets the sweet and masks the alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(bottle) dark amber. Aroma of toffee and a little resin. Flavor is sweet toffee malt and resiny hops.

nearly clear brown pour with a 1 finger, creamy beige head. Aroma is mostly caramel and toffee, with a little sweet citrus and herbal hops thrown in, surprisingly weak aroma. Flavor is roast, chocolate, molasses, licorice, some dark fruits, earthy leaves, nutty notes and citrus. Medium body with a creamy to syrupy feel, light, but blanketing and pretty sharp carbonation and dry finish, with a lingering prickly carbonation and a sort of tree bark-like astringency. Good stuff overall, but the aroma being so weak brings it down a peg. A bit weird, though. I think if somebody were trying to make a fruitier Dubbel using American-style ingredients they might come up with something like this.

A fairly mundane offering from Lakefront, I was expecting more. Pours a dark amber color, but not a whole lot going on in the aroma department. On the palate there is some spice and a little hop resin.
