Commercial Description:
This recipe is a true craft ale brewed with only water, yeast, hops and malted barley, in keeping with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. We have designed it with a vibrant golden amber hue and a refreshing body. The mild addition of Kent Golding hops balances the generous amounts of caramel malts to give it a malty rather than a bitter finish. A special strain of California Ale Yeast gives the brew a slight hint of fruity aroma.

12oz bottle pours light amber with a short offwhite head. Aromas of some light apple, pale malts and some light grassy hops. Flavor is more sour than anything but also some caramel and some green hops. Palate is light airy and easy to drink.

"Brewed During Feb. 06." Clean beer smell, but a bit stale. Pours a light ale color, but pouring brings up a bit of skunk. Minimal head. Taste has some malts and bitterness, perhaps an English profile as suggested by the description. Nothing beyond that. Okay, I guess, but a bit of a bland choice to start my beer rating year.

Bland, with no hops and no taste. I realize that is true to style. However, just not worth drinking.

I had read some of the reviews of this beer before trying it against my better judgement. However, I’d have to agree with the general consensus on this one. In addition, I’d also have to agree with the chlorinated pool smell as well. I never thought I’d get that in a beer and was quite shocked to sense this. Power of suggestion? Perhaps, but you be the judge. Then again..........don’t.

Sad. Generally I don’t enter ratings for something that appears to be infected. I don’t like it, but I do believe in a "buyer beware". This was purchased in Boulder as part of a mix 8pk. I sure as hell hope the others aren’t in same condition. Were it called a Belgian or something else I would still be shaking my head in wonder of what was being attempted, but a "true craft ale" died somewhere before it reached my lips. Super fruity and tart and freaky. Fneh

The aroma has a chemical smell that is not unlike a chlorinated pool. It also has vinegar, sugar, and soured fruit. The appearance is amber gold with a medium sized head that fades fast. The flavor is sour with malt, citrus, and butter. The bitterness is subdued. The palate is thin. The aftertaste is malty and nutty and the best thing this beer has going for it. Since this is my first Mild Ale I am not sure what they are supposed to taste like but if this is any indication I am not a big fan of the style.

Deep golden with a very short lived white head. Fruity and slightly sour aroma. Slighty sweet malty flavor. Refreshing.

Bottle. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate yeasty cider aroma. Light to medium body. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet fruity finish of short duration. Refreshing drinkable beer.
