It’s sweet, smooth and fruit-filled, bordering party lines created from the closely related pale ale category. IndianaRed (1555), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Bottle Pours a cloudy orange amber with a lot of carbonated fizzy action but no head or lacing. At all. Aromas a fruity like apple, appricot and pears. Flavors are yeasty, breadish and woody. Feel is thin watery and quite lively. Aftertaste is gone before you know it. Not unpleasant and would have been better much colder. Still, not unpleasant and good with my lunch. Thanks to MrFacto for this sample from the upper midwest. jtw (942), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 23, 2004 i figured this was a pale ale of some sort, it looked kind of like one....i was proved wrong when its aroma was pungent fruity (apple and pear) and almost belgian-like; perhaps some diacetyl. both flavor and aroma made it feel more like a lager than an ale. tasted a little skunky, definitely some diacetyl. definitely an interesting beer, one i would give another shot. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 21, 2004 Pours and smells like a BMC, this is not a good start.... Lots of aroma, something sweet creeps in as well.
Taste is somewhat bitter, and thin. Sweet with a bitter complexity to it.
Not a fan of this one.. a little too much like BMC for me... Blatz King (150), Whitewater, Wisconsin, USA

I had been drinking Milwaukee’s Best Light all night so trying this one was a pleasant change of scenery. i just remember it not having too much taste. But what taste it had wasn’t bad, but wasn’t really good. I would probably try it again if somebody offered it to me. notalush (2647), Denver, Colorado, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2004 Had this one on tap at Hooligans in Miwaukee.
It was so good, that I drank about 4 before I moved on to the next one.
Not a lot of bubbles in this one. Very little head. It had a unique taste that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Almost tasted "ashy". Very very nice. jaymobrown (1354), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 30, 2004 Uh, sort of skunky. Light color, fizzy feel. Very, very dry at the end, which made it difficult to continue to consume. That’s about it, really.
