Most fruit beers are ales, this beer is a lager. It is brewed with Wisconsin cherries, and a hefty two pounds of cherry per gallon is used in the brewing of this beer. The aroma and sour flavors of cherry take center stage in this beer.
Lakefront Cherry Beer pours to a slightly hazy golden/pink color with a tight white head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose is the first thing that hits you, aromas of sour cherries marry with subtle touches of biscuit malt aroma. The palate is crisp, with good biscuit malt flavors, and an underpinning of almond/cherry stone flavors. The body is lean, tart, and very smooth. The finish is the show stopper in my opinion, it is a wonderful, sour cherry edge that lingers.
This is a wonderful summer brew, very thirst quenching, and refreshing. It is like drinking fresh picked sour cherries. I could drink a LOT of this beer Lubiere (4491), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 9, 2006 Amber ale with a thin white head. Light sour cherry jam in aroma, with malt base. Rather malty in mouth, with tart cherry noites, byut very light and watery. Boring. Mondial 2005. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 28, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with footbalm, thanks Eric!) It’s a nice idea, but unfortunately, I think this tastes like I’m drinking really watered down cherry juice. The flavor of tart cherries is pretty light overall, but still manages to dominate the beer. It’s not sweet at all, and I can’t really taste any hops and it’s not bitter, all of which are good things for this beer. The malt body has almost no flavor though, which is why I think this is like watered down cherry juice. And since the cherry is so light and the watery beer lacks flavor and body, in the end, it’s just not all that enjoyable. On a positive note though, the beer is much more aromatic than flavorful, again showing a solidly cherry aroma. Very hazy and bright amber in color. Half an inch of fizzy, off-white head builds after the pour, but quickly settles to a partial film. Needs more flavor and more body to pique my interest. RAYBOY01 (1828), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The fruitiness of the cherries are nicely balanced by the light sweetness of the barley malts in this LAGER of all things. When in Milwaukee you must visit this friendly brewery! Fairly one-dimensional. Sour flavour through and through. Yeasty finish. Hops? Nice try marketing dept. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Sweet cherry nose..,bright fruit, tart, yet sweet.
Taste: smooth, but tart and sweet doing a tango, one up, one down, then back again. Light bodied, with a soft, fruity finish. Not too much of anything, very easy and approachable. If you love cherries, dig in. Nice dessert choice, for those looking for a sweet treat, but not a challenge.
(Not the sort of thing I’d go for too often, though...but who cares about me?) Gurst (338), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 21, 2005 A little thin, but works to a gentle frothiness. I hate that word, "froth". Anyways, taste is quite tart, but not as sweet as I’d expected. Little cherry taste, just a general tartness. Some spice and orange rind taste as well. So-so overall. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 14, 2005 Strong cherries in the sugary aroma with notes of cinammon. Clear copper coloured body with a light but lasting cover of off-white head. Lightly spicy and tart cherries with a clean, fresh bitterness. Light body with fair carbonation. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005.
