COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American style fruit beer made with Wisconsin’s Door County cooking cherries and lager yeast. The tartness of the cherry is balanced with the sweetness from the 2-row barley and the flavoring of Mt. Hood hops.

A reddish pour with a small head. Not much lacing on my glass. Smell of cherries is clear with nothing else sticking out. Flavor was a little tart but not overally, not as creamy as I thought it would be. A little too sweet at the end for me.

Pours a reddish golden with a white head. Aroma is light cherry and sweer malt. Flavor is sweet, light cherry tartness and then an average lager with a bit of sweet malt. Disappointing.

Pours gold with a red hue. Aroma is of dark cherries similar to the types found in Cherry Pie. Taste is initially sour followed by a deep taste of cherry. Underneath with the cherry appears the malt sweetness and the beer finishes with a dry crispness that carries with it a lingering tartness. Very bubbly on the palate.

Pours a hazy bright orange color with a big semi loose head that shrinks in a hurry. The aroma is cherry and clay, kind of weird but not offensive really. This actually has a lot of tart cherry flavor, not in a kool aid way at all either. The beer has a bit of that same pie crust thing that goes on in Belgian Red and Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, is it just the way cherries ferment that gives them this pie crust character or are all these brewers balancing the same sort of specialty malt bill to achieve this? It’s curious but it’s also a nice flavor no doubt. The beer seems like it should be sweet but it finishes very dry and very clean with a nice lingering hoppy bitterness. My only complaint is a salty flavor that is a little out of place. The beer is sort of one dimensional (in a good way) up front, but the finish is what pulls it all together. I like this beer, it seems like what the Sam Adams cherry wheat could be if it were in fact a good beer.

Bottle:   Pinkish hued amber, slight haze, moderate to large frothy head, slight pink hue to it, spotty lacing.   The aroma, while having very faint cherry (plastic/waxy cherry), it seems to have some sort of pool cleaner aspect too.   As I near a swimming pool, you get that... chlorine... yeah, slight chlorine in this one.   I sat on it for a while, so maybe thats it.   A little less pool like on the tongue, cherry is there but isn’t all that real.   Decent body and mouthfeel.   Finishes with faint cherries, very pale grassiness as well.   The aroma and start to this beer just kills it.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2011 Reddish color with foamy white head. Cherry, musty, astringent aroma. Tastes like an ordinary lager with cherry. The cherrry lends more sourness to it than sweetness. Not that sweet at all which makes it highly drinkable. Medium-light body. Bit of a sharp palate. This is a good summer beer; the more I drink it the more I like it.

Like Sam Adams Cherry Wheat theres a plastic/medicine quality to the cherry flavor.

Tried it at the Lake Front tour to complete the set. Refreshing and I see what they were going for. Sometimes the cherry flavor was a bit off for me. Serving: Tap

12oz bottle. Pours a cloudy, particulate filled red-orange colored body with a finger-width, pinkish-white, frothy and fizzy head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma is a light cherry tartness with some lager yeast and pale malts. A hint of dry wood. Flavor is more pronounced. A good amount of woodiness with a mix of sweet and sour cherries. Medium sweet pale malts with a bit of a richness to them. Finishes dry with a light bitterness and a medium length aftertaste. Light to medium, smooth, clean body with a higher amount of soft carbonation. Drinks nicely. Overall, an enjoyable fruit lager. The cherries add a nice mixture of sweet and sour and whether its the pits or the hops, there is a pleasant woodiness to this that accompanies a simple, but well balanced maltiness. This was alright.

Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy, IL. Pours a murky red with a pale pink head. Aroma smells like a jar of maraschino cherries. Light bodied with average carbonation. Flavor of pale malts, but with the cherry is really dominate. The problem that I had was that the cherry flavor came across artificial and medicinal. Slight acidity on the finish. Perhaps back off on the cherry, up the maltiness and bitterness a tad.
