Kinda not good. interesting but overall probably a fruit beer to stay away from. No idea how New Glarus Belgian Red is so awesome, but it puts all other fruit beers to shame. Aroma is a slightly skunky and the flavor is a kind of tart. The cherries are a little over powering. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 2, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a rich orange/red color with a semi frothy white head that provides decent lacing. Aroma is almost like cherry pie filling. Very sweet and has the cherry tartness. There is a slight hint of malt if you delve past the big cherry part. It does smell tasty. Flavor is...you guessed it...cherry. There is an upfront tartness that smooths out as you finish your sip, but you don’t forget it. It mimics the aroma a bit, it has that cherry pie filling taste to it. Very sweet and I’m not sure how many of these I could drink in one sitting, but by itself it’s not that bad. cblado (148), Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 2, 2008 12 oz bottle. Poured a hazy amber color, slight pink head. Little aroma. Flavor is mostly malt and a slight tartness. Disappointing. I’ll admit, I was spoiled by another great Wisconsin cherry beer, New Glarus’s Belgian Red. I’d definitely recommend that over this. theisti (1654), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Metcalf Discount Liquor on 91st Street. Bottled Apr - WK1 according to the label. Pour is a hazed orange golden with a two inch off white head. The head has a soft reddish pink hue to it. Nice, thick lacing left on the glass as the head retreats. Aroma of toasted malt, and some faint cherry tartness. The taste is more about the cherries than the nose, with immediate tart, sweet and sour fruit. Pronounced, and fresh tasting. The woodiness of the seeds and stems seems to be present as well. The base beer appears to be a clean, non-descript lager. The toasted maltiness is in the taste, with a nice sweetness. Clean, medium to light palate. After taste had a bit of a medicinal Sucret flavor to it. As the beer warmed, the herbal medicinal notes picked up quite a bit, and detracted from the flavor.
