Commercial Description:
An American style fruit beer made with Wisconsin’s Door County cooking cherries and lager yeast. The tartness of the cherry is balanced with the sweetness from the 2-row barley and the flavoring of Mt. Hood hops.

What the... Pours a nice golden color with little head. No real *wham* of cherries on the nose, just some vague malt. The taste... the taste... I just don’t know. There’s some malt but primarily a stagering sweetness. It’s a fruit sweetness, but I’m not sure it’s only cherry; maybe it has some apple too. It didn’t really float my boat.

Pours clear copper-red with a thin off-white head. Light musty, earthy aroma which hints at cherries but doesn’t have any tart, sweet character. The body is watery and the flavor is rather weak, although the cherries lend an earthy tartness to the otherwise boring, bland lager body. I could kick a few of these back, however.

12 oz. brown, longneck bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a reddish straw color, with a fizzy tan head. Aromas are of sour pie cherries, along with some biscuit malt. Flavors are of sour cherries, chalky mineral water, some dry malts. No hops to speak of. Thin mouthfeel, too fizzy for my liking. Decent enough beer, but nothing to go out of your way for.

Cloudy amber with a half-inch white head. Lightly fruity malt aroma. Flavor is all malt and cherries, slightly sour. Light, dry finish. Just ok.

On tap at the Frisco Grille in Columbia, Maryland. Was a very nice looking red in the glass with a decent short-lived head. Aroma was a bit on the cherry side, but more malt and a little yeast smelling. the first few sips didn’t yeld much in the cherry department, but it was more noticeable later in the beer. Decent fruit beer, but nothing really spectacular.

nose is inoffensive, really not much there despite the fruit. appearance is slightly darkened from ’pale’. flavor is quite tart, lightly sour. not much of any real malt to enjoy, mostly just fruit. this beer fails my ’fruit beer test’ -- all i taste is fruit, no hops/malt. still far from the worst ive sampled, but definately not something i would ever delve into again.

Bottle with Butters at Second Cellar Reduction. Orange red color with a head that has a very light brown head. Smells like cherry pie. Sour with some hops and not enough malt. Cherry notes. Short finish.
