| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 25, 2006 Anyone who has ever been to Milwaukee, WI, instantly knows how Milwaukee became known as The Cream City. Many of the old buildings in downtown Milwaukee were constructed with cream colored bricks, giving these buildings a striking look. It is a name that Milwaukee is proud of, and these cream colored buildings dot the city of Milwaukee. Sprecher Brewing of Glendale(just outside of Milwaukee) has an outstanding cream soda called Cream City Cream Soda. The local beer rag is called Cream City Suds. So why not name a beer after the Cream City? Leave it to The Lakefront Brewery of Milwaukee, to do so, with their Cream City Pale Ale. One would think a brewery in the Cream City would have done a cream ale, but what beer lover is going to argue with an excellent pale ale? Not this one!
Lakefront Cream City Pale Ale pours to a deep golden color with a nice white head and a lively carbonation. The nose is very fragrant with zesty, citrus hop aromas, and some nice pale malt aroma as well. The palate is firm with lots of good pale malt flavors, touches of sweet malt, and ripe estery fruit. This beer finishes long, and dry with a very assertive, zesty, tangy hop bite that lingers on the tongue.
An outstanding version of American pale ale. On draught this beer is sublime, and it is quite excellent in bottles as well. This beer has got the signature hop character you would expect in American Pale Ale, but also has a wonderful malt character, and some nice fruity esters. This beer makes for a wonderful aperitif, but is also a natural with grilled meats. Serve this with a nice juicy seasoned rib eye or NY Strip steak, grilled mushrooms and onions, and a baked potato with all the fixings. Of course this is Milwaukee, so it would go great with some grilled brats, or a spanfekel dinner(roasted pork) as well.
