Commercial Description:
This top fermenting amber-colored ale is brewed using generous amounts of malt and kettle hops. The trademark of this ale is its beautiful hop bouquet and taste that comes from a liberal dry hopping of the highest grade Cascade hops during the secondary fermentation. The malt firmness of this ale comes from the perfect mixture of two-row malted barley, carapils, and caramel specialty malts. The ale has an original gravity of 1060 and is fermented at 65 degrees farenheight which imparts the classic ale fruitiness to the brew.

Orange copper color, high tan foam that dissapates, medium amount of bubbles flowing to the top. An orange aroma mixed with honey, very appealing aroma, no hops noticed in the smell. A dominant hop flavor is noticed though when drinking, overpowering any malt and certainly dominated any cirtus. The aroma misleads the taste, the taste is good though. It is a pale ale in the british sense.

Deep copper colour with an off-white head. Fresh citrus hop aroma. Grapefruit and sweet toasted/cookie dough malt. Quite fresh tasting as well. Simple and straightforward with a great balance of malt and hop. Fairly soft bitterness with no resinousness at all. Simple, straightforward and tasty. Warming brings out a kiss of spiciness on the palate. Really tasty APA.

Bottled. Poured clear medium orange with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet oranges, grapefruit, and caramel upfront with some floral notes and more fruit surrounding.. quite well presented. The flavor had a very nice sweet fruity complexion with a caramel and juicy pineapple backing.. sweet toasty caramel and fruits on the slightly spicy finish. About medium-bodied and dry on the palate with lower carbonation.. warmer on the back with a very nice spicy, refreshing finish. Good stuff!

Bottle. Amber color with a frothy off-white head, leaving spotty lacing. Floral hop aroma above light caramel. Flavor of piney, somewhat resinous hop bitterness up front without much malt support. Seems a little out of balance. Probably over dry-hopped a touch, but otherwise OK for an APA.

Bottle from sampler pack from Whole Foods in Charlottesville. Pours a fairly clear orange color with thin wispy head. Aroma is flowers, pine and caramel. Taste is caramel with a nice hop profile. Refreshing and straightforward.

From a 355 ml bottle with a brewing date of Week One-July 2007. Pours a slight hazy bronze with a short-lived off-white head. But it is much darker than a pale ale should be. Unlike other brews from this 8-bottle sampler, this one does not smell like yeast. I am able to note some malts. Solid mouth feel. The flavor has a unique hoppy-malty mix that I find appealing. This was one of the better bottles from the sampler pack.

Dark amber brown. Slightly smoky aromas. Dry, quaffable, silky palate, decent.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber color. Slight white head. Aroma is very fruity, a significant grassy note as well. Flavor has that fruity, piney floral hop taste common in pale ales, but it is tempered by a maltiness and a grassy note as well. There seems to be a lot going on in this brew, flavor-wise, but it’s not unpleasant. The mouthfeel is a bit slick, with a good body but more carbonated than I expected. Overall a good pale ale.
