A little light on the palate leading to a light dry, chalky hop finish. A so-so beer. puboflyons (589), New Hampshire, USA Mar 29, 2008 From a 355 ml bottle with a brewed date of Aug 2007-Week One. Pours a rich brown with a little ruby inside. Aroma of smoked barley and chocolate. Fairly heavy mouthfeel. Flavor is very much like chocolate, cocoa, and everything else with similar qualities. This is a reasonably drinkable brew and it reminded me of a milder North Coast Rasputin’s Imperial. beoir (51), st paul, Minnesota, USA Mar 28, 2008 12 oz bottle. dark amber color. malty aroma. lighter bodied than I expected. nutty malt flavors. zeke626 (301), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Mar 27, 2008 Bottle, pale brown body with off-white head. Aroma of malts with hint of smoke and coffee. Taste of dark malts, caramel, and maybe burnt toffee. Somewhat sticky aftertaste. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Mar 27, 2008 This was tasty. Dark brown opaque body with a strong coffee aroma. Coffee hints on the body with some chocolate hints but a light clean finish. Very nice. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Mar 16, 2008 Pours a fairly clear brown head with a reasonable amount of head. The aroma is a bit nutty like a brown ale, but not a lot of fruitiness. There’s a bit of dark dried fruit like the prunes in some doppelbocks as well as some brown sugar. Not that bad of a beer.
