Commercial Description:
Eastside Dark The rich, coffee-like aroma and flavor ot this find Dark Bavarian style lager beer is derived from a precise blending of three different specialty barley malts, chocolate, black patent, and Munich malt. Munich malt is also added to bring about the creamy body of this malty brew that has an original gravity of 1060. The most impressive aspect of ths brew is the perfect balance between the specialty malts and coveted Mt. Hood hops. Unlike many other dark beers, East Side Dark doesn't have the bitter aftertaste associated with it. Instead, your palate is greeted with the rich body and balanced flavor that only this beer can deliver.

Bottle... Clear, dark amber lager with a mid-sized, fizzy, khaki head. Terrific retention. The subtle nose lends modest notes of caramel and cocoa. Light, refreshing flavor. The spicy, citric hops balance the dark malts very well. Nearly medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Thin, watery finish. Refreshing, at least. Kudos to headbanger for shipping the bottle!

Bottle. Pours brown with a red tint when held up to the light. Very thin light brown head. Sweet malty aroma, much sweeter than I would’ve thought. Taste is sweet, somewhat smokey. Finishes nice and malty, kind of bready. Medium body, slightly watery. Not too familiar with this style, but this seems average to me.

Got this one bottled from the brewery in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Very dark copper/orange pour, clear with a filmy, rapidly dissipating head, a nice malty bouquet with a bit of almond. A bit on the dry side, with bourbon, a touch of smoke, and plenty of malts. Finishes a bit muddy and sour on the way out, but otherwise a good beer.

An orange-brown dark with an atrocious head. A little smoked flavor hangs around this beer, which is noticeably heavier than a pale lager, and slightly sweet. Smokiness in the aroma as well. Not bad or great, just good in moderation.

Dark color. Smell of coffee and malt. Nice roasted coffee and malt taste. Bitter and dry at the end.

Nice coffee smell typical of some dark lagers. A little bit of a grassy flavor throughout and it had a bitterness throughout. I wouldn’t seek this one out again, but wouldn’t refuse if offered another bottle.

Pours brown with slight bronze tint. Slight head which disappears quickly. Nose is sweet and malty with underlying caramel tones. Flavor has creamy texture, not silky. Medium body. Sweet toasted malts with pleasant finish.
