COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Eastside Dark The rich, coffee-like aroma and flavor of this fine Dark Bavarian style lager beer is derived from a precise blending of three different specialty barley malts, chocolate, black patent, and Munich malt. Munich malt is also added to bring about the creamy body of this malty brew that has an original gravity of 1060. The most impressive aspect of this brew is the perfect balance between the specialty malts and coveted Mt. Hood hops. Unlike many other dark beers, East Side Dark doesn’t have the bitter aftertaste associated with it. Instead, your palate is greeted with the rich body and balanced flavor that only this beer can deliver.

Pours a nice shade of brown, milk chocolate and bread on the nose. Caramel, bread, and chocolate on the palate. Not overly complex, but straight forward for what it is.

Twelve ounce bottle from Beer Of The (Every Other) Month Club, tasted on December 12, 2012. Dark brown ruby hue, small tan head that slowly left with fair lacing, nice sweet malty aroma with chocolate/bread/yeast notes, interesting sweet malty taste with chocolate notes. A couple of off notes in the flavor keep this from getting a higher score. Still, a respectable brew.

Bottle: Mahogany, red backlights, puffy tan head. Dark caramel, light smoke, chocolate malt aroma. Roast, caramel, mild smoked ham, wheat flavour. Creamy....smooth, malty.... I’m surprised this wasn’t listed as a smoked.... Wonderful, rich...a great beer.

Bottle from Ashur Liquor variety 8 pack: Created a thick foamy topping of head while the liquid was a dark tinted brown. In the nose, there is a delicate balance of caramel malts with a hint of honey roasted nuts. The flavor is simple and allows for the caramel malt to dominate but just as the aroma had lead me to believe, there is a slight profile of roasted nuts. As for the finish, it leaves behind an aftertaste of decaf coffee which makes this an all right American made dunkel.

Poured at a dunkel tasting. This one didn’t blow me away but was a solid general drinker I could serve to friends. Pours a brown with small white head. Aroma was called coffee like in description from brewery but I got a roasted malt and dark fruit aroma. Taste was malty and dark toast. Lighter in flavor than other dunkel’s for me. Body was medium and it was creamy. Not bad but not a standout for me in a fav style.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Head, or lack thereof, died very quickly which gave the beer an overall flat taste. Good coffee aroma and very drinkable for a dark beer though. Overall, solid beer, but I had heard good things so it left me a little disappointed.

A tasty dark lager. The foamy head is very brief and doesn’t last long unfortunately. Nice malty flavor. Worth a taste.

12oz bottle from the place by Costco, Wine something or other. Poured a nice looking mostly black thinner density body with a smaller dirty white foamy head. Aroma of cheaper bad chocolate, milk, cream, wet dark toast burnt corn husks and some dark veggies. Body is medium with a creamy almost milkiness about it and softer carbonation which furhter adds to the creaminess. Flavor is old dark malts, milk, cream, some darker veggies, earth. Meh this started off okay but sort of didn’t hold on.
