Reeks of malt in fact that’s all I’m picking up. This beer is one-dimensional with a strong nutty malt flavor that doesn’t let anything else shine through. It seems very bitter and acidic. I had one of these a month ago and never rated it because I thought I had batch, apparently not. Finish is a bit thin as well. larrysstein (3), Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Malty aroma and taste, large tan head that reduces fast. smooth medium body with very slight bitter flavor. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2006 Lakefront East Side Dark is a delicious Munich Dunkles. This beer pours to a deep brown color with a tan head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose is quite malty, with a touch of roasty aromas. The palate is firm with some nice sweet malt flavors paired with some good roasty flavors as well. This beer finishes with more roast, and enough hop presence to balance. This beer is very smooth, clean and drinkable, as a great lager should be.
An excellent domestic version of dunkles from a great brewery. I would match this with a Milwaukee German Fest favortie, "German pizza". Pizza with Swiss cheese, saurkraut, grilled onions, and slices of bratwurst. Have a few slices, and a few from the Dark Side 1FastSTi (2557), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

I’ve had it many times in the past but apparently didn’t take the time to rate it. Anyway, it has a nice deep toasted malt flavor with chocolate and light hops. The aroma is much of the same. The palate is medium bodied, smooth, and rich. Quite a decent dunkel.
