Commercial Description:
Eastside Dark The rich, coffee-like aroma and flavor ot this find Dark Bavarian style lager beer is derived from a precise blending of three different specialty barley malts, chocolate, black patent, and Munich malt. Munich malt is also added to bring about the creamy body of this malty brew that has an original gravity of 1060. The most impressive aspect of ths brew is the perfect balance between the specialty malts and coveted Mt. Hood hops. Unlike many other dark beers, East Side Dark doesn't have the bitter aftertaste associated with it. Instead, your palate is greeted with the rich body and balanced flavor that only this beer can deliver.

This pours a dark, earthy brown with a slight tan head. The aroma is full of toffee with hints of chocolate and roasted malt. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation, it tastes of dark malts, toffee, perhaps some chocolate, and a dusting of hops. Crisp finish. Nice, refreshing drink.

Bottle: Dark brown with a small to medium eggshell head. Medium bodied. Aroma: bitter chocolate, dark bitter malt, caramel, oak, smokey coffee. Taste: bitter chocolate, sour & bitter dark malts, light fruit, mild coffee, and hops towards the finish with a bitter chocolate.

I do taste a hint of coffee/chocolate and the beer is fairly drinkable, but it’s also nothing special. Pretty good - but not great.

Very dark brown color. Little to no head. Aroma is malt, caramel, touch of smoke and oak. A medium to light bodied dunkel. Malts are fruity, chocolate and sweet. Very smooth taste, Lots of malt not a lot of hops. Nice easy drinking dark beer. Sort of reminds me of a “old style” Bavarian Dark. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

pours a deep brown w/ a thick tan cream head. Had a fairly mild aroma w/ hints of coffee (hard to pick up in a bar) the palate was creamy and delicious the flavor had hints of hops, malts, carmel, and maybe even a tiny bit of nutmeg.. overall I really liked this beer.

Nice rich color or deep maroon almost with thick white head. Nice nose of coffee, chocolate, nuts and goodness. Med weight with a slightly sweet mid that lingers into the finish. The flavors start out as a carmel coffee concoction and move in to more roasted nuts and dry coffee beans. Nice chocolate note and overall a well made beer.

Malt and yeast aroma, rich smooth chocolate coffee taste, stays smooth the entire trip . A brew that hs converted many to the dark side. Especially works on women who say they would never touch a dark beer

Bottle: Deep reddish brown hue with small head and little lace. The aroma has notes of smoky and caramelized malts, floral hops, pipe tobacco, coffee, and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts with a sublime bittersweet malty nature before a light twangy fruit character sets in. The finish is mostly smoky and nutty, some bitters detected. The feel is so average, not much depth but it is lively. Okay brew, something you can drink a couple of in a setting.
