COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Eastside Dark The rich, coffee-like aroma and flavor of this fine Dark Bavarian style lager beer is derived from a precise blending of three different specialty barley malts, chocolate, black patent, and Munich malt. Munich malt is also added to bring about the creamy body of this malty brew that has an original gravity of 1060. The most impressive aspect of this brew is the perfect balance between the specialty malts and coveted Mt. Hood hops. Unlike many other dark beers, East Side Dark doesn’t have the bitter aftertaste associated with it. Instead, your palate is greeted with the rich body and balanced flavor that only this beer can deliver.

Bottle. Nicely malted beer. Mostly a gritty chewy malt. No coffee, or chocolate flavors that I could find. Nicely done beer.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2005 In the bottle at the 2004 Crescent Moon Vintage Beer Tasting. Dark brown in color. Burned flavor. Dark tan head. Light in body and mouth feel. I’m not too impressed with this one. Maybe it underwhelms me because it did not age well over the last decade. RE-RATE: Just tried a bottle made in November 2004. Guess what? Not much better! Zero head and a dominant sour taste.

12oz bottle BD Mar wk1(hopefully 2004!) Pours like a brown soda but the foamy head dies. Nose is dark malts like munich & chocolate...medium bodied smooth, sweet...I think its well put together, its just too sweet. No hop character detected, some bitterness woulda been nice at least.

Bottle from Kevin42. Pour is nice, but taste is lacking. It’s not bad, just a little dirty. Too grapey, too carbonated. Like flat Dr. Pepper. Not bad, but not good by any stretch of the imagination.

Bottle pours black cherry with brownish hues, small milkish white head, with attractive lacing.   Heavy aroma of roasted grains and malts.   Up front I get a malty taste, slowly meandering on over to the roasted side with a grassy/grainy touch.   Slight milk sugar and coffee flavor on the finish.   Smooth on the palate, decent body, enjoyable...   Slight grain and hop tinge on the aftertaste.   Thanks goes out to DavidP for the trade!

Dark brown color, small off white head that faded quickly leaving little behind. The aroma was roasty and coffee with maybe a bit of caramel in there as well, but i might be reaching on that one.The taste was pretty decent, roasty and coffee againa slight hint of caramel and fairly decent hop presence that manages to balance out fairly well.Another good brew from Jcapriotti

Appearance: dark brownish hue, nearly opaque, with a fine, if short, creamy head. Aroma: soft, with flavors of cocoa and nuts, very malty. On the palate, so smooth, and terrifically tasty. Body feels light, on the tongue, but the texture is quite good, and the flavor is unstoppable. Some minerally notes pop up in the middle, carrying through the finish, though they did not detract from any enjoyment of this delicious dunkel. A thorough taste treat, that I’d happily consume again!

Poured dark brown with a red tinge. Aroma coffee and cherries. Taste was roasty and coffeisn, sweet, with a low carbonation and a creamy palate. However, there was a slight off-twang, maybe from age, maybe from infection, which brought it down some.
