COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Eastside Dark The rich, coffee-like aroma and flavor of this fine Dark Bavarian style lager beer is derived from a precise blending of three different specialty barley malts, chocolate, black patent, and Munich malt. Munich malt is also added to bring about the creamy body of this malty brew that has an original gravity of 1060. The most impressive aspect of this brew is the perfect balance between the specialty malts and coveted Mt. Hood hops. Unlike many other dark beers, East Side Dark doesn’t have the bitter aftertaste associated with it. Instead, your palate is greeted with the rich body and balanced flavor that only this beer can deliver.

Like a previous reviewer said, you have to really pour from the bottle aggressively to get a head. But even when you achieve a little head, it fizzles to a very thin foam moderately quickly. There is a strong chocolatey/coffee aroma and taste. I think this beer could use some aging and mellowing a bit, as the coffee taste is too "in your face." I couldn’t drink a full bottle of this.

Taste doesn’t quite match aroma and appearance. Kind of watery. Not as flavorful as I would expect

12 Oz. long neck. Pours dark brown but head was achieved only with an aggressive pour. Once achieved, the off-white head stayed for a while and left a nice lacing. A little chocolate on the nose, and lots of malt. Almost no hops. Taste is a bit disappointing compared to the aroma and a little watery. Malt is there but not enough hops to balance. Good carbonation. Medium body, pretty smooth. Dry finish. Very drinkable, not a bad brew.

Deep brown translucent pour. Slight malty aroma and taste. Fizzy and a note of bitterness like Arabica beans.

Pours a deep reddish brown with a medium head and some lace. The aroma is nicely roasty with plenty of chocolate and some odd unidentified stinkiness. Flavor is pleasantly roasty with some good chocolate and plum fruitiness, sort of one dimensional but very nice never the less. -Fish!

Rich and malty, pours a dark brown with a thin head. The aroma is caramel and molasses, roast malt, dark fruit. Flavor follows with a nice balance. Very smooth and easy drinking.

Bottle @ home. Brown appearance with a light brown head. Richly nutty, light espresso, toasty caramel malty, earthy, big nutty aroma. Somewhat earthy, big nutty, toasty malty, rich chocolate flavor. One of the best American dunkels I’ve had. These guys can make some nice german beers. Nice beer!
