uncle8gil (1), milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA does not count Nov 22, 2006 by far a feat of brewing conquered with this beer. on tap at trocadero, nomad and comet cafe. a beautiful beer to look at: dark amber, reminding one of lost loves and times gone past…find them again among the bubbles. the first sip gives an amazingly full mouthfeel exploding in taste that is not syrupy or overwhelming. alcohol is present and delicately masked by the terrific taste and perfect carbonation. not sweet, but subtle citrusy fruit and flower tastes insist their way upon the palate. this beer increases in beautiful taste as it warms. the hoppy kick of this strong ale reminds one that this is a beer being drunk. it is perfect on all counts. this is the beer i judge all other beer by. cheers, friends. larsenj (1), USA does not count Nov 3, 2006 Drank this at the brewery and it was downright delicious. The hop character and strong malty backbone are a great match, and it’s unfortunate that they don’t bottle this (only available in keg version). StewardofGondor (1931), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jun 18, 2005 On tap at the Nomad, presumably replacing the Pub Red. Murky caramel brown in color with a wispy, whitish / tan head. Sweet and rich aroma - chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel, carmelized pecans and brown sugar. First sip, and holy hop brigade. Bitter cascade hopping is up close and personal. Rich brazed pecans, cedar chest, pine combs, toffee and tobacco to go along with the prevailing caramel and brown sugar sweetness. Some slippery maple syrup melds the tongue to the palate and gives some fodder for the chewy malts. Very expressive with the IBUs. Mexican cigar wrapper aftertaste. Nice. TheDean (780), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 22, 2005 Sampled at Trocadero. Wow, is this a good beer. Through the low bar lights, I could see this beer had a beautiful hue to it. The look is quickly surpassed by its wonderful taste. Such a great beer. 1FastSTi (2265), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Aug 31, 2005 I sampled this on tap at Trocadero. I was pleasantly surprised that this beer was so good. It poured to a hazy bright brown/red body with visible carbonation and a thick creamy beige head. The aroma was sweet caramel, almonds, and lightly hoppy. The flavor was really where this beer excelled. I tasted it and was like holy "@#!$%", I wasn’t expecting that! Very nicely hopped. If I had to guess, it’s greater than 70 IBU. The flavor is very hoppy, cascade hops, English hops, there’s also a rich malt. Toffee and brown sugar.
