Sampled on 8/28/2010. This Amber Ale pours a medium to dark copper color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to large sized beige foamy head, with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is bready, caramel, hoppy and sweet. A medium bodied American Strong/Amber/Imperial Red Ale. The malts are bready, cereal, fruity and semi-sweet. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy. Nice carbonation. Good balance. Nice smooth taste. A big bold amber/red ale. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pours out a cloudy medium amber with a frothy tan head. Light malt-fruit aromas. Body is medium. Flavor is well-balanced sweet amber malts and some good spicy hopness. Finish is clean with a lingering hoppy-malt profile. A very decent amber.

Bottle-- boy oh boy, this Lakefront variety pack keeps getting better and better! Kind of a burnt red color with medium lacing. The aroma is surprising hoppy with some malt. Taste is hoppy too with malt rounding off the edges. I was expecting more red ale than IPA, but I’m very pleased with the beer.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 theOptimator (231) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Aroma is grapefruit hops forward. Appearance is redish brown, very little carbonation and very hazy. Taste is hops forward. Grapefruit aroma hopping and a firm bitterness drive this beer. There is plenty of malt present as well, but still a hoppy beer first. Palate is medium full. Bitterness lingers. Overall a good beer. The hops in this are nice. Nothing unique, but very drinkable.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scipio (194) - Vernon Hills, Illinois, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Pours an amber with a full beige head. Aroma of pine, caramel, and some citrus hops. Taste leans more towards the citrus direction, specifically lemon and grapefruit. Also contains pine and caramel. Citrusy aftertaste lingers. Medium body, and much more smooth instead of carbonated. Pretty good.

From the bottle. Pours a hazy red colour with a large white head. Aroma of orange and toffee. It tastes like a lot of other beers out there but that’s not a bad thing by any means. Sweet caramel malts with a good level of citrus bitterness.

I’m an urban cyclist, despite my current woes being due to a recent bicylce accident. As such, I appreciate a "cycling-themed" beer. Also, I’m willing to forgive this beer its association with the hipster fixation with all things "fixie". Bottle, thanks to Duffman, with my deep gratitude, as always. Pours clear deep red, ruby, with a flash of garnet, or some suck nonsense. Head is 1-finger thick, cream in colour, with quite lovely lacing. Nose is solid conventional 3-C hops, nice grapefruit. Flavours of rich malt, solid citrus/pine from the hops, nothing wrong here, just nothing to set it apart from the crowd.

Good red ale with a nice bit of bitterness. Found the taste to be bit mild but it finished off nicely. Very cloudy in the glass and definitely tastes full bodied. Not a beer for those who want to knock a bunch back and not get filled up.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours a very dense cloudy dark amber with a large rocky tan head on top. This head retains as well as any that I have seen. Lots of sticky lace and webbing clings to the glass. The nose is a bit underwhelming. I expected a sharp hoppy scent, but this carries some mild citrus, toast, and toffee. Nothing stands out though.
Like the nose, the body is a slight disappointment. It’s somewhat creamy and smooth, but it’s a little thin. The carbonation level is low-to-moderate. Hopefully the flavor will make up for the shortcomings. Hmm. Not so much. There’s some orange zest noted, finishes a little tart and sour. A nice sweet balance in there with hints of caramel and toffee. Bitterness is low.
This really wasn’t what I was expecting. I guess my scores correspond to my expectations. Maybe I need to go into each beer with no preconceived notions (?). Still, it was decent, just underwhelming is all.

Pours amber with an off white head and aroma of malt and fruit. Taste is well balanced, of malt and hops along with notes of fruits and grains with a hoppy finish. Very drinkable, solid brew.
