I have a mixed opinion on this one. The hops are sticky and the head is fluffy like no other. This beer tastes crazy fresh. But the flavor, isnít all that good. Iím getting hints of liquorice or anise, Canít get into it.

Poured from the bottle into my favorite pint glass. It looks red if you hold it up to the light but it looks brown sitting on the table. I like that they made a beer thatís not an IPA that is 6.8% thatís different. Best served COLD, and donít be fooled by the first beer, must have a second (or 3rd, or do like me and drink the 6) to truly appreciate. You get your moneys worth with this one!

On tap, poured into a sampler glass. The aroma is heavily malty with a note of cooked butter (which fades), caramel, and toasted grains. It pours a hazy caramel and red color with a light brown, soft head. The head retains very well, but only leaves behind a light lace. The taste is a medium sweet with a medium light bitter. The texture is oily with soft carbonation and a full body. The finish matches the aromas with the butter replaced by more of a rye character. The rye is most prevalent in the aftertaste with a bit of sweet citrus.

Draft @ Millertime in MKE. Light hoppy aroma. Brownish copper color. Not sweet, but a nice caramel malt flavor. Nice thick head that stayed for a while. Nice, fill body. Good beer overall.

Red amber color with small head, unfortunately served in a frosted chalice. Slick caramel brew, light residual sugars, a bit fruity, estery, correct bitterness.

Pours mahogany, medium head. Aroma is of yeast, malt, fruit. Taste is initially malty, piney and hoppy, then it is slightly sweet and fruity. Itís interesting, feels "thick" on the palate, syrupy, but isnít viscous like a syrup. It is well carbonated. Not too bad. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Medium dark brown-red with small tan head. Aroma is mostly malty, with a bit of piney hops. Medium body with light carbonation. Flavor is lightly roasted but sweet malts and hops are there too providing mostly a dry finish. Pretty good.

bottle - Pours amber with many suspended yeast particles and a light tan head. The aroma is more toward caramel malt with some mild hops. It tastes of caramel malt and light, resinous hops. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance Ė The beer pours a deep reddish-amber color with an almost none existent tiny foam head. The head fades almost instantly leaving only a trace of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell Ė The aroma of the beer is mostly of a caramel nature with some other sweeter and sugary aromas of brown sugar and molasses. Other aromas of a lightly toasted bread and a bit of an earthy and pine hop are there as well, producing overall a well-rounded smell. Taste Ė The taste begins with a clean, lightly toasted bread flavor with a rather decent level of caramel sweetness. The caramel is joined by some brown sugar as the taste advances with the roast letting up a bit. All the while, some hop flavors start working their way onto the tongue with some flavors of an earthy and herbal nature coming to the tongue. With a little bit of tangerine and some light pine also joining the flavor at the end, a rather smooth, moderately sweet red flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel Ė The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of both its thickness and carbonation. Both are rather nice for the easy drinking feel of the brew all while upholding the sweeter and lightly hopped flavors nicely. Overall Ė Very easy drinking but with a good level of flavor and complexity. A rather nice red overall.
