COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This unique stout combines the flavor of roasted malts and Milwaukee’s reknown FUEL CAFE coffee. The fine balance of mild hops, the gentle acidity of choice cofee and the sweetness of the barley makes this an unforgettable brew.

THOUGHTS: A decent coffee beer, but I’ve had way better ones. It was a nice stout. Not the richest of coffee flavors. More like instant coffee than real roasted coffee. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was an opaque black in the glass except for a hint of amber at the edges when held to the light and a large, light brown head that kept a nice sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma was moderate roasted malt and coffee. The initial flavor was sweet, lightly acidic and slightly bitter; while the finish was sweet acidic and bitter with an average duration. There was sweet caramel malt, sour coffee, a little roasted malt, roasted coffee, a lot of sweetened coffee up front, but more like instant, then the finish drops off and sort of seems like a small amount of coffee in a big glass of milk, a little bit like weak chocolate milk too. It ends almost like a coffee candy. The medium body was silky with soft carbonation and a slightly dry and light to moderately astringent finish.

Almost solid black pour, copper edges and noticeable sediment. The head is frothy and creamy. Aroma of wood, milk and coffee. Taste is dark chocolate and coffee bitterness with a mocha/toffee sweetness. Pretty good but carbonation is too high and it needs more thick malt. A bit soda-like. Medium bitter finish.

Bottle pours black with brown undertones in the light. Tan head. Aroma of caramel and coffee, touch of chocolate. Solid sweet coffee up front, but then a nice dry coffee finish. Far too carbonated.

A little bitter for me. The concept is nice, but I was expecting more coffee flavor. That said, I could sip on one of these...but only one.

Lakefront Brewery disappointed me before when I had their barleywine. I purchased ’Fuel Cafe’ was slight nervousness. Bottle was 10 months old. Upon cracking the cap I was greeted by a chocolate and coffee aroma. Light bodied sweet stout with a flash of foam, roasted malt and coffee flavors. Lakefront Fuel Cafe was not a memorable coffee stout in my opinion.

Aroma is roasty, coffee, yet slightly synthetic. Initial attractive pour, but short lasting head and disappinting thin mouth feel. Expected more for a flavoured stout such as this. Initial Tast e is bitter and watery, but aftertaste does offer some lingering notes of coffee beans

12 oz bottle. Black with a thin brown head. Only a bit of coffee in the nose, malty, lightly roasty. Coffee is even less pronounced in the flavor, sweet malt and mild nuttiness. Finish finally has some coffee, but none of the bitterness from it. Body is a bit thin and watery, it really detracts from the beer. I expected more.

(Bottle, looking to be probably 1 year old) Pours dark brown/black, decent head retention, tons of yeast. Sweet malty aroma, slight fruitiness and a tiny bit of coffee. Roasted malt flavor, not much coffee except on the finish. No noticeable bitterness. Bit of a bready flavor from the amount of yeast. Very smooth body with medium carbonation.
