Mar 23, 2008 Pours a nice dark color with an espresso head. Sorry, but for a stout this is a disappointment. Thin, somewhat watery, minor coffee and chocolate flavors. This is like Stout Light. Not what I was hoping for.

Mar 17, 2008 [Bottle] Pours dark brown with a fairly small tan head. Aroma is dominated by sharp, almost sour coffee and light milk chocolate. The taste is sour, aggressive coffee, and really bitter--especially in the finish. Thin mouthfeel. I really found this to be unpleasant.

Mar 15, 2008 I was very intrigued by this beer until I tasted it. Too bitter and not enough body for me. The aroma was pretty nice, but overall a subpar beer.

Mar 13, 2008 Black or dark brown with mocha colored finger of head. Looks great, but it’s mostly down hill from there. Aroma of some bitter yeast, vinegar, with the touch of coffee. Mild chocolate/coffee flavor, but very simple and pretty disappointing. Mouth feel was extremely watery and thin with very little alcohol present. Basically tastes like a really watered down (cold) coffee. No complexity or palate at all. Bummer.

Mar 10, 2008 July 2007 - Dark pour, small head. Aroma was of roasted coffee. Strong coffee flavor, lots of bitterness and acidity, touches of lactic notes. I like coffee stouts, so I liked this...but it was pretty average, at best.

Feb 28, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a small quickly-dissipating mocha head and some spotty bubbly lacing. Aroma is dry coffee grounds. Taste is about the same with some maltiness and cardboard. The taste is blunt and to the point, nothing complex going on here. It’s the type of coffee-stout you drink after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day; enjoyable for the style but lacking finesse.

Feb 11, 2008 Really let down by this one. I had wanted to buy this on my past few visits to the Parti Pak, but always got something else instead. I expected this to be something comparable to Bells Java Stout, with the strong coffee flavor, but this one (sadly) didn’t even register with me at all. Has a nice appearance, black and creamy with a tan head. I couldn’t find any coffee at all in the aroma, and just the slightest hint of it in the taste. This is just an all around plain beer. I’d rather have a Berghoff or Leinny or even a PBR.
