DuffManSW (283), Riverside, California, USA Oct 8, 2009 Bottled... Pours black with a tan head...Aroma is some roasted malts and slight chocolate but no coffee... Flavor is roasty and that is pretty much it.. Meh. goldfish19 (33), Long Island, New York, USA Oct 5, 2009 Updated: Oct 7, 2009~ Purchased this 12 oz bottle from New Beer Distributors in Manhattan, NY. Pours black with a healthy tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma I get out of this is chocolate, followed by hints of coffee and roasted malts. Taste is slightly sourish, and I didn’t really pick out any of the coffee. For a stout, the body is a little on the thin side. Overall, this is an interesting beer (interesting in a weird sort of way). Thank God for the Mix-a-Six! ~
yobdoog (1429), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Sep 29, 2009 Exactly. This is coffee beer. Or beer flavored coffee. Lots of sweet coffee and roast. A little dry with and odd finish. Lots of coffee. Not my fav and I like coffee stouts. guyinchicago (516), marengo, Illinois, USA Sep 19, 2009 bottle poured black and thin tan head aromas of roasted malts, hops and very light faint coffee taste like an average stout with the coffee being hardly present at all if your going to call your beer a coffee stout put some damn coffee in it overall this is just a stout with normal stout qualities kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Sep 9, 2009 12oz bottle via HAgen. pours almost black with ruby edges and a small beige head. Nose is roasted grains, hazelnut, coffee. Taste is the same with a bit of soy and chocolate. Body is light, carbonation is too high. I love coffee but this is sort of like drinking cheap carbonated coffee mixed with beer..lol..which i guess is what is is! scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Sep 1, 2009 Aggressive pour into my Duvel glass filled the vessel with a strong buoyant creamy dark tan head over jet black. Slick oily aroma of fresh bulk dark roast beans. Starts with an expected heaviness on the palate, but it fades away and becomes thinner with each sip. Coffee character is strong on the back of the tongue with notes of hazelnut and almond. Surprised to see how differently I find this beer compared to the ratings below me. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Aug 26, 2009 This beer pours with lots of red highlights but is still quite black in the glass. A tan head lives and dies quick. A molasses aroma with anise. Flavor is similar. Chocolate shows up late and the finish is that with anise. I have fond memories of this brewery having done the wonderful brewery tour. But this beer is pedestrian. Good, but not all that good. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2009 Wish I could try this bad boy again. I had this awhile back when I wasn’t much into coffee beers... I’m sure I’d like it more now.
