3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Easily one of the strongest coffee flavored brews I’ve tasted within memory. Possibly a bit bitter for those who drink their morning coffee with cream and sugar, but I enjoyed the true coffee notes. A beer for the true coffee lover!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 12 ounce bottle from Beer Of The (Every Other) Month Club, tasted on January 11, 2013. Opaque brown hue, small brown head, nice firm aroma of coffee (mostly) and malt, initial sweet mouthfeel followed by coffee and roasted malt, some astringency. A little light for a stout but enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
An enjoyable brew that is both full of flavor and well balanced. Has the same ’laid-back’ quality I have experienced with some of their other beers too - which is a good thing (for a change).

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle pour of deep brown with amber edges and a tan slightly lacy head. Aroma of big sweet toffee with roasted malt and fruity coffee beans. Taste of smooth iced fruity coffee that leads into a sweet malt. Smooth slightly creamy mouthfeel with a short acidic finish. Over all good coffee stout that has the fruity notes of great fresh good quality coffee.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a very dark brown. Medium, creamy light brown head, mostly lwsting. Aroma is bitter, semi-sweet, chocolate, coffee, some lactose, moderate toasty, fair hoppiness. Flavor comes together a little better. Smooth coffee, milk chocolate. Nice balance. Medium body, creamy, rather clean palate, not much happening. A decent, rather easy drinking brew.

taste is the same. Initally smooth, but bitterness takes over. Chocolate, velvety, hops, coffee, roasty malt.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
DATE TASTED: December 20, 2013... GLASSWARE: Guinness pint...OCCASION: let the Christmas season celebration season begin!... APPEARANCE: jet black body--no daylight--with a dominant, three-finger brown head that settles to a beautifully even line’; no lacing, though .. AROMA: peppercorn, vanilla bean and coffee; creamy latte also works its way in; the combination is not altogether appealing... PALATE: a warming, rather thin body; slickly moves down the throat; mellows and remains drinkable, but not an impressive strength...TASTE: whoa--complex and intense--the coffee isn’t pronounced, but creates a funky, briny stringently medicinal quality; a bit of a downer... OVERALL: surprisingly, a Lakefront bummer--the overall effect neither promotes the coffee or the stout aspects...

3.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
I like it, slight malt with low acidity, noble hoops and soft caramel for an unmistakably American stout.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Pours a black-brown complexion with minimal tan head, no lacing. Aroma of black coffee and sweet malt. The flavor is sweet malt, well roasted with some stale coffee. Not bad considering the style is not imperial. Just somewhat flat.
