Commercial Description:
This unique stout combines the flavor of roasted malts and Milwaukee's reknown FUEL CAFE coffee. The fine balance of mild hops, the gentle acidity of choice cofee and the sweetness of the barley makes this an unforgettable brew.

Pours deep opaque brown, almost black but no head really. Caramel, light chocolate but oddly no roastyness and only the slightest tinge of coffee. Heavy caramel then chocolate, some roastyness and only a little coffee. Ends with a slight bit of sourness. Medium bodied with very lively carbonation. Disappointing.

Pours black with a large, creamy tan head. One whiff and I get my first hint of infection. The aroma is cherry, light vinegar, coffee and chocolate. The flavor is vinous, tart cherry, very acidic coffee, milk chocolate and molases. Medium/light body with sharp carbonation and a watery texture.

black with dark brown edges. disappearing brown head. aroma funky stale coffee. flavor weak watery bittersweet. tasted like weak folgers. light body slightly fizzy dry bitter finish. i love coffee stouts but this was bad. it was weak and watery. had i not known there was coffee in the beer i would have just assumed that it was a bad stout. not worth your time.

Bottle. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of soured milk, light bakers chocolate and coffee. Flavor of stale coffee and some sour milk came through...not very appealing in that area. THing body that was over carbonated with a dry finish. Overall kinda of a sloppy brew.

"Bottled during Mar 06." One of the first beers I tried when I began exploring craft brews, before I got onto RateBeer. Now I can finally critique it. Pours black, tan head makes a valiant effort to stay up. Smell is both straight coffee and coffee malts. Taste is more of a straight stout than a sweet one: some sourness pervades over the coffee flavor (and this may have to do with the age of this bottle). Dark roasty malts here and there, and a slight coffee aftertaste. Usually such a combination makes for a lot of astringent bitterness, but this beer avoids that. Sourness is a bit like tart cherries. Standard carbonation is not a good match for a stout. That’s the last of 8 Lakefront beers from a sampler pack sold past its date, but I hope to re-rate from more recent bottles soon.

Light coffee and dark malt aroma. Flavor of sweet coffee, dark malt and a bit of chocolate. A very light bitterness, and a slight tartness. Overall its very good, and not extreme in any measure. Well balanced, and tasty, with a medium body. The most serious shortcoming is the low ABV. If this were 7% instead of 4 % it would be great. Purchased a six at Total Wine for $7.29

Bottle: Dark brown with a white head. Aroma, milky, kinda smells like a latte. Flavor, sour milk, mild coffee flavors, very bland, watery. Kinda thin on the body.

Pours black with a faint tan head. Aroma is pretty good at first. Most of the good aroma was in the head. Once that went away it was sort of a sourish vineagr. Flavor was the same. At first it was alright but then it took a sour turn.
