Arnie (272), Chicagoland, IL, Illinois, USA Aug 2, 2006 I like coffee. I like beer. Deep coffee stouts are hard to rate for me. I don’t know if I like my beer to taste like coffee, and I don’t know if I like my coffee to taste like beer. (I am fine with coffee that tastes like Kahlua, or Jameson’s, though). Had this one from a bottle I picked up at the brewery. A thick, semi-opaque brown pour with a thick dark tan head. Very mild coffee nose, but a strong coffee and malt flavor. No real bite. I might have to re-rate this one next time I’m in MIlwaukee. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA Aug 2, 2006 Dark ruby-black body with no real head. Coffee aroma. Coffee-bean taste, some spices that frankly throw the entire beer off. Thin body with an ending that reminds me a Mexican food. holdenn (1431), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 17, 2006 pours black with a thin head. aroma of coffee and roasted malts and barley. flavor is weak coffee and a little chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. They should have used more malt, coffee, and everything else to make this a better beer. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jul 13, 2006 bottle - Pours dark brown to black with a very thin head. The aroma of roasted malts and coffee is pleasant enough. The flavor is consistent with the aroma and there isn’t much else going on here. You’ve got roast malt and you’ve got a fairly mild coffee flavor. It’s too light and the body is too thin to be a particularly good stout. It’s okay, but certainly not worth seeking out. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jul 2, 2006 otle. dark pour with almost no head. A lot of sediment. roasted coffee, sweet chocolate and malt aroma. very smooth, a little watered down. mild coffee, chocolate and caramel. very weak stout. FezMonkey (268), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jun 16, 2006 Jet black color with a medium sized tan head. Faint aroma of chocolate and coffee. Very bitter flavor without much coffee taste. I may have got a bad bottle(I hope they didn’t intend it to taste that way). Headed to the sink now. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 13, 2006 12 oz bottle, via JCapriotti. Dark brown pour, almost black, with a small light brown head that faded to a thin ring. Mostly roast on the nose, but a little grainy. I’m getting a slight hint of coffee and a little chocolate. The flavor is thin and a little sour on the finish. Roasty malts and a slight dry yeastiness up front, but I’m not getting any coffee flavor at all. Mouthfeel is very watery with active fizzy and foamy carbonation. Overall, pretty let down by this one. I’m a huge fan of coffee beers, but this doesn’t pass as a coffee flavored stout to me. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 6, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a deep, dark brown - almost black - with a wee orangey hue. Neat, creamy beige head. Malty, lightly burned aroma perhaps with a touch of coffee. Perhaps a whiff of butter also. Medium-bodied with lots of roasted malt. Lightly burned, bitter finish. Luckily that touch of butter never made it to the flavour. 170406
