3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black with a decent cream head. Aroma is distinclty stoutish, and distinctly coffee lovin'. Flavor is creamy, with a ending oumf of the java. But I'd have to agree, go with bells java stout, or just bells for stouts.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours opaque black with a dark tan head that doesn't last. The aroma is of dark roasted coffee and carries over to the flavor. A good coffee stout but I like Bells Java Stout better.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black with a large-bubbled brown head with some large, clumpy lacing on the glass. Very intense aroma of dark roast coffee beans, smoky wood and licorice. Weak palate for a stout, but still a nice coffee and chocolate flavor but also a bland and numbing finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks to mabdoney for sending this to me! Pours nearly black with a small brown head. Nose is roasted malt and coffee. Tastes like carbonated coffee with sweetener in it. It's actually pretty good, as I'm not a big coffee fan. Some bitter notes. There is a slightly oily mouthfeel but seems smooth during the finish. Good beer!

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2004 Dark black stout with a creamy brown head. The thick roast coffee aroma is awesome. Overall flavor was good, but maybe a little too rich/powerful. It was both sweet and bitter... almost like there was too much of both. The beer seemed a little thick going down, but has a good aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black out of the bottle with a thin brown head that quickly became a thin brown ring. Nice roast coffee nose. Very bitter coffee grounds taste with some bitter chocolate. Reminds me of sweetened, stale coffee. Nice enough stout.

I thought that this would have had more roasted coffee flavors. It's more of a sweet stout with a sour edge (oh, now I see it's listed as a sweet stout!) The sourness also has some bitterness - yeah, I've tasted similar flavors in some coffees. This is not bad, but I won't be seeking out more of it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Color is very dark brown, nearly black as coffee, hmmm....that means something here. A super nice light chocolate brown colored head that faded to fast and has some spotty lace. Smell is faint of black coffee and darkened malts a bit chocolatey. Light coffeeish taste, dark and earthy and espresso-like, just lightly flavored enough for interest but is pretty thin and lacking in length. Some coffee-like dryness and very light hop dryness as well. Feel seems to light, I needed more body and heftyness. Its a little to quick to end, I wanted more body and longer lasting effects and flavors.
It's a nice light stout, not bad, not great, so so, could be better I think.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Fantastic thick brown head floats on top of a black body. Aroma is of sweet milky coffee with some chocolate undertones. The flavor is mostly like a dry stout but with smooth coffee backing. Damn good! I like how coffee doesn't dominate the flavor, it just provides a nice touch to an otherwise easy drinking stout.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I had been putting off rating this beer, as Ron knows, due to the added caffeine from the brewed coffee.
Pours dark as the innards of Mammoth Cave, yet produces a damn fine toffee colored head, nice lacing too. The aroma is certainly pronounced with chocolate, and cappuccino, very appealing! Flavor has a great toasty campfire garnish as well as a slightly bittering chocolate and thick coffee pronunciation. Medium palate….This is much better than I than I had anticipated!
