A super nice light chocolate brown colored head that faded to fast and has some spotty lace. Smell is faint of black coffee and darkened malts a bit chocolatey. Light coffeeish taste, dark and earthy and espresso-like, just lightly flavored enough for interest but is pretty thin and lacking in length. Some coffee-like dryness and very light hop dryness as well. Feel seems to light, I needed more body and heftyness. Its a little to quick to end, I wanted more body and longer lasting effects and flavors.
It's a nice light stout, not bad, not great, so so, could be better I think.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 17, 2006 pours black with a thin head. aroma of coffee and roasted malts and barley. flavor is weak coffee and a little chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. They should have used more malt, coffee, and everything else to make this a better beer. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jun 8, 2004 Deep, rich black with a thin, tan head. Slight coffee aroma with smoke, caramel, a little chocolate and a touch of piney hops. The body is extremely thin for the style, and really disappointing. The flavor is bland, especially for a coffee stout. The roasted character is incredibly subdued. There is some stale bread, bland chocolate and an odd assortment of earthy mushrooms. Really disappointing. I can only hope this was a bad sample. drowland (1445), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a two finger lighter brown head. Aroma was coffee and a hint of bitter chocolate. Flavor was dry and bitter (but good) with hints of both coffee and chocolate. Medium/full body with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. I really thought that this was better than most other people seem to think. Oh well. fredandboboflo (1431), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of grape and bittersweet coffee. Flavor of sweet malt with some fruitiness and nuttiness. Nothing overwhelming, but not a bad beer. SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2005 Black. Tan, quick-dissolving head. A wiff off coffee as I poured, nose also has roasted chocolate. Coffee flavor right up front, slight hop character in the finish-just enought to balance. Sweet and roasty malt and coffee. Pleasant aftertaste. Medium body. Good stuff.
