3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - NOV 23, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2005 This pours a deep, dark brown, almost black, with a thin, quickly fading brown head. The aroma is of roasted coffee and a touch of bitter chocolate. It’s surprizingly carbonated for a stout. The taste is of coffee with some bitterness. It’s got a dry, bitter coffee finish. Not bad, but nothing special.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ernest (5187) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 22, 2002
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2003 Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is almost opaque black (flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, coffee, dark chocolate), with light notes of smoke and vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Rather watery/thin, a bit sour and astringent. Reminiscent of an Irish dry stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BBB63 (5039) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 18, 2003
Very dark brown with an excellent creamy tan head and good lacing. The aroma reminded me a lot of a Iced Cafe Mocha with some roasted malt added in, big coffee and chocolate hints. Tart expresso and semi-sweet chocolate taste, some fruity hop undertone. Bitter aftertaste, dry. Mouthfeel was a bit thin and soft, smooth. I've had better, I've had worse. Recommended if you seem to enjoy coffee infused stouts.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ibrew2or3 (4985) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAY 4, 2008
12oz bottle pours near black with mocha head. The aroma is coffee beans, roasted malts and mild notes of burnt malts and oxidation. The taste is very much the same as the aroma with highly roasted malts mingling with coffee and with a faint note of oxidation. The coffee fades some to midway allowing more roasty malts to shine through. Coffee and burnt malts linger into the after taste. The flavors here don’t seem to play well together. It didn’t really work for me.
